Someone messaged me first with insults and I responded. Now I'm the on that's banned.

Someone messaged me first insulting me on a game. They had killed me twice in game (Rainbow6Siege) and he and his buddies were actively harassing me in game chat. I responded to his messages in the same tone (because everyone would) yet I'm the one that
gets the ban.

I'm not acting like I was perfect in the situation, but I find it ridiculous someone can bully others then when you respond you get banned.

Banned when not the Aggressor

Hi there, I'm just wanting to voice my dissatisfaction with the enforcement process. I'm aware that there will always be someone dissatisfied with it becuase... No one wants to be banned. However my case was an error and there's no way for me to dispute
it because It's only for 24 hours. I was passing someone at the finish line in a race on forza and they responded to this by slamming me into a wall to secure 3rd place. I then messaged them saying "That was pathetic, Now you're a target". I was banned for
this and I'm unable to dispute it!? Seriously? As a chill fella, I want this taken off my record. It doesn't reflect me at all.

I have been suspended for 2 weeks after beating someone on for honor and they got angry and sent me a message calling me a noob call. I then replied with calling him a dead f***. Now yes i used a "bad word" but I'm not the one who started the insults!!!!
Where I come from an insult is an insult. How is it you can get suspended after an exchange that you didn't even start! What happened to the trash talk?!?! I don't think you should be able to get someone banned once it becomes a back and forth. At that point
he knew what he was doing and we agreed to exchange insults. I could understand if I sent him a message 1st insulting him but he messaged me 1st! He then sent a follow up message saying "enjoy the ban" he knew he was baiting me. That's not right AT ALL. And
now customer service in the "infinite wisdom" can't help me. Says "submit a ticket" as if that does anything at all. This is crazy what happened to gaming? Trash talk used to be part of the fun! I think it's time to make a switch.

 

Doesn't matter who starts it.If you respond in a way that violates the ToU/CoC you risk being suspended.

Best to always just report & block anyone sending you abusive messages online.

You can go to the enforcement site
here & file for a case review if eligible but from what you've said it's extremely unlikely you'll get the decision overturned.

 

My problem is that he got no suspension. Once you're banned they don't take reports of yours serious.

This is like the high school bs where if someone punches you in the face and you punch them back to defend yourself you get in trouble. Thought xbox was better than that.

 

There's no way for you to know for sure whether or not he got some sort of suspension/ban. And even if he didn't receive one at the same time you did, it still doesn't mean he won't.

The enforcement team takes every complaint seriously. It doesn't matter if it's come from someone who has been banned before or not.

 

Thank you. I've gotten notifications before that tell me when my reports have been taken action upon. I guess I know in the future to just not respond to teams actively harassing you, but I didn't think him messaging me first then me responding would result
in a ban. I'm just irritated that I've had an account since the original xbox and never received a ban or anything and I can't even appeal this ban because it was only 24 hours.
