Someone joined my family and made purchases then left the family. How do I prevent this...

I recommend that you reset your password (again) and create a strong one (there are some applications and websites that help you create a random strong password).

Another important step is to enable the 2FA using the Microsoft Authenticator.

Next, let's enable the use of the Microsoft Authenticator App:

Download & install the Microsoft Authenticator app to your mobile device:

Sign in to your account security dashboard.

Select "Add a new way to sign in or verify" and choose "Use an app".

If you’ve already installed the app, select Next to display a QR code appearing on the screen.

In the authenticator app, select "+" then "Add account".

Choose the account type and select Scan a QR code.

Scan the code shown on the screen.

Select Finish on the PC to complete the setup.

Additionally, it's also a good idea to Sign out of your Account everywhere.

Sign in to your Advanced security options on your Microsoft account security dashboard.

Someone "Joined" my Microsoft Family and then tried to purchase gift cards

At the bottom of the page that comes up you can click on the country (lower left corner) and then select yours.

Alternatively, you can add the family pack from your xbox dashboard.

A couple of things when joining a Family plan - It was made for parents and children.

So if your Brother inlaw purchased a points card, you would have to redeem it for him then give him the allowance of points.

Another thing is purchases with Credit cards, all Child accounts are unable to have a CC linked to there account.

So he would have to leave the family plan, add the CC then make the purchase then re join the family plan.

These are 2 things that stick out most in my mind; that could cause a problem.
