Someone is using my email

A person was inside my-mail, with knowledge of my passwords and was sending e-mails from my e-mail to my e-mail.

Have worked with Nortons and scanned the pc, but thought this may well be a security issue for yourselves?

I was trying to edit my account so that i could have the same email on my computer and xbox so i can connect them but when i tried to change my email i learned that someone had made an xbox account using my email address but i have full access to that account
and they have done nothing with it because i think they typed in the wrong email and of course did not have my email and now i am wondering how i can get that account off of my email. Thank you

Yes, I changed my Microsoft password this morning in conjunction with Norton Support, who were generally checking out my PC.

Currently in the process of changing my other passwords.

Is this a Microsoft issue, in that he is inside my mail-box?

Can I please ask, have you got to the bottom of this issue - are you able to tell me how this person is able to get onto my e-mail?
I feel it will not be wise to just rely on me changing my password.
So can you please assure me this is being investigated?

The most likely scenarios when someone gets access to another's e-mail account:

- The intruder was given the account credentials by the victim

- The intruder was given the account credentials by someone else to whom the victim gave their information

- The intruder learned the e-mail address from an unrelated site (social media, forum post, etc.) and guessed the password

Very rarely is a user's information outright hacked or leaked. Yes, changing your password is a good start, but you are correct in that it shouldn't be the only solution. I would advise enabling two-factor authorization on your affected account. Check with
your e-mail provider to see what other security features they may have (Gmail has this, for instance, as does Hotmail).

I'd be glad to. Sign on at the
Microsoft Account site, since Hotmail is accessible via your Microsoft account. After you sign on, go to the top menu and choose "Security" (it should be 3rd or 4th from the left).

Below the main three tiles on the Security page, there is a link that says "more security options". Click on it and it will take you to another new page. On this page you're going to look for "Two-step verification". An alternate option, using an authenticator
app on a smart device, is just below that, and it is also an excellent option to protect yourself.
