Someones trying to derank me.
One complaint, might not be sufficient to permi-ban a user...
One Valid and Accurate Complaint is all that is needed before the XBL PET takes any action. Even if this includes a Perma-Ban.

I recommend you and your friends first block the threatening user. Then reset your routers/modems by turning them off for 10 seconds then turning them back on. This way you will be assigned a new IP and the attacker will no longer have a way of finding you,
as they target you through stealing your IP address.

Please, follow the link provided above!!!!

No need to play with unwanted gamers so, Mute/Block, Avoid and Report this player through the console features.

Power down your modem/router for a while and move on.

GOOD LUCK!!!

COD3 red, your advice is not completely acceptable as a solution, depending on the OP's ISP. Some folks have a static IP address and if that is the case in this situation, we need to address this differently. But first, please update us on your situation

9. Please be sure to follow the instructions given to you by SparkStormrider and ignore the nonsense infighting.

The most important thing you can do is follow this advice: "If you know who initiated the DoS or DDoS attack, you may also want to submit a player review to Xbox Live and avoid the attacker in the future." - This all said,
even if the attack does NOT happen, I would report the the gamer threatened to do this.

I doubt this guy has a static IP. He doesn't even know what DDos means.

12. To xxXMtnDewGodXxx: No one is capable of "frying" your router. A "DDoS: or Distributed Denial of Service Attack basically requires two computers to send a load of packets to your IP address which in turn makes your router unable to process the information
and become sluggish and/or disconnect from the web temporarily to protect itself depending on how new your router is. No long term damage exists.

It is very similar to the early 1990's when AOL was the top way to get online. If you annoyed the wrong person they would send you a flood of IM's to the point that your computers CPU/RAM cou;d no longer process it and would either shut down your PC or
disconnect you for your dial-up connection. So follow through on the original advice and make sure that the ISP and XBL receive complaints on these two individuals.

----

To COD3 red: Stating that the OP does not know what a Denial of Service attack is assumptive (we all know what that leads to) and lacks any sort of empathy to the individual you initially attempted to assist. I have a friend who has a basic ISP through
his cable company and his IP address has not changed in a year despite supposedly having dynamic IP addresses. As for my PM suggesting you going the Ambassador program, please disregard, since it is quite clear you are incapable of sharing the joy of helping
another when additional feedback is provided in addition to yours; plus the name calling is quite disturbing.

In addition, to release your current IP address, it is typically recommended that you unplug your ISP's modem for a solid 60-90 seconds in addition to the router. Once the modem is fully functional you can replug your router. But this does not necessarily
guarantee a new IP address will be assigned. Suggesting a 10 second solution is reckless misinformation.

14. I apologize, but you actually want to unplug your modem for 5 - 10 minutes to ensure that a new IP address is assigned. Xbox has actually released an article discussing this very topic which you can read
