Hello. I contacted support. They referred me here so an Ambassador could assist me.

I have had an Xbox Live Gold account since Halo 2. I have had the same email for this account for probably the whole time (Yahoo).

When Gmail was in Beta (2004-05), I snagged a username that a lot of people would probably try and get (KingofXbox--Just an example).

In 2012, I began getting emails to my Gmail account saying "thanks (FIRST AND LAST NAME of an unknown person) for signing up for xbox". Xbox never asks to confirm email accounts and it doesnt bug me because I figure he will realize he used the wrong email
and change it later. I continue to get an occasional email here and there when he purchased xbox points, etc and ignore these emails (I even get some from Comcast for the same unknown person confirming they signed up for cable internet)...The final Xbox email
comes in Jan 2017 saying 12 month xbox live cancellation confirmation and "sorry to see NAME go. If you ever want to return to xbox we would love to have you back", etc...

**Side note- I get emails all the time to this account asking to confirm account activation for all kinds of websites, games, programs etc, that I do not use, so my gmail is obviously used accidentally (or maybe purposefully at times) constantly.

Well, now I am in 2018, and I want to stop using Yahoo for several reasons. And guess what... I cannot use MY Gmail account for my Xbox account because a stranger used it to sign up for an Xbox Live account in 2012 and the alias page says it is in use. Simple
    as that....

What can be done? He used my Gmail fraudulently and I have full access to it and of course, my current account email. Can't Xbox (Microsoft) delete the email from the xbox account? Microsoft support first suggested trying to change the password for the Xbox
account linked to my Gmail. When I looked at the sign in page (on xbox website)and entered MY Gmail name to change password, it had an alternate email of "C*****.com".. I could not see the email and you obviously cannot even change a password because you need
all this personal info. Microsoft then suggested I contact this unknown person and get him to remove the email from his Xbox, but I have no idea who this person is. I have a name in the emails, but this is not a feasible option. Support said they had no other
ideas of what to do. Pretty ridiculous. Any help would be much appreciated.

EDIT: Apparently this cannot even be done anymore according to the support page "If you use a non-Microsoft email address to create your account, we will send a validation email to that address to verify
that you have access. Simply find the email and follow the instructions to complete validation."

    :)

Reference numbers are only used by phone and chat support so they can look into your issue if you call back. Forum support does not have access to that system. You'll need to post details of your issue in order to receive assistance.

    Hello!

Xbox support should be able to resolve this issue directly. I would just make sure they understand that this e-mail address is yours and someone has mistakenly added your e-mail to their Microsoft account. If the support you originally spoke with was not
helpful, someone else should be able to assist.

  5. Not sure why support would send you here. Possibly because they either don't know how to help you or cant help you in this situation. Unfortunately an Ambassador also cannot help you. If an email is already used it is already used. The user who has used
your email would need to change that at their end.

I would suggest messaging the gamertag asking if they set it up accidentally and if they can change it.

  6. Two ambassadors, two different answers. That doesnt look good.

Anyways, as my message says, he ended his xbox live service in Jan 2017, so messaging him would likely result in no response (but I will try anyways).

Why can people use other peoples emails to create accounts on xbox? And why cant people in charge at xbox remove the account if done fraudulently?

Most likely you've created a second account using that email address. Try and sign in using your gmail address and go through the forgot password process so you can access that account.

Once you have access to that account, you'll have to give that account a new email address and make it the primary alias (email address) for that account so you can then remove your gmail address from that account and then use it on your main account where
you have your yahoo email address.

Xbox Support can't change account info only you can.

  9. I don't mean to sound rude, but you obviously did not read my post or you think I am a complete moron. There is no way I would have created a second account in the first place, not to mention all the evidence describing what is actually happening.

With that being said, there is no way for me to access the account created under MY Gmail (which makes zero sense). Maybe I will create an Xbox account with my state senator's email or even the president or any number of people. That is what makes no sense,
so don't bother saying "Xbox support can't change account info only you can" because that does not apply because nobody can apparently except some random guy in the world who created the Xbox Live account in 2012......

  10. I will try calling. Maybe this will get me somewhere. Seems like someone who has had the same account with Xbox Live for 13+ years and has access to both email accounts, should be able to get somewhere.

  11. Yeah, I might do that. I have had Hotmail in the past, I am just trying to consolidate everything to one email and prefer my Gmail.

Did you not read how he said he kept getting emails about Microsoft points being purchased and the Xbox live being cancelled. How could he have made a second account that he "forgot" about and purchase Microsoft points but have no recollection of purchasing
said points on said account her forgot he made. Does he have a split personality disorder where his other personality lives it's own life with it's own bank card?

I did read your post. People create additional accounts all the time when they don't understand what they are doing.

Did you try and go through the sign in process using your gmail address?

Did you go through the forgot password process and have the system send you an email to your email address?

Part of the process of creating a new account when you use a 3rd party email address is that it will send a verification code to that email address.

Xbox Support can do a search by your email address and send out a verification code to what's on that account but they can't change or over-ride whats on the account.

Your call on what you want to do.

  14. Exactly, you thought I was a moron and created a second account while drooling on my keyboard.

And yes, I went to the Xbox sign in screen (during a chat with support) and typed in my Gmail (as I said in my original post. I really think you did not read it or did not understand). It does not work, because this guy has "claimed" my Gmail address as
his Xbox account email and during the access account process, there was no option to get an email to my Gmail for a forgotten password process. The only option it showed had the "alternate email of "C*****.com" with Xbox
asking for name, date of birth, address, and it had a personal question it wanted an answer for, that I believe was "Favorite person in history" with a place to enter a response in
order to access this other guys Xbox account (would that even be the proper way to do this? Access his account...??!? I mean I have no problem doing it,
if I could, but it seems like Xbox support could and SHOULD be the ones to just fix this in a matter of minutes).

Bottom line..well there is no bottom line. I elevated this to a higher level of support via a second chat with support. It is basically fraud and Xbox needs to address it since I cant.
