Somehow my Microsoft account is a child account I don't understand?

Title says it all,

When I try and play games like FH4 and want to add paint jobs and stuff of the like to my car it says I need to change my parental controls but going to the website just tells me to log in with my accounts parent, problem is I don't have a parent account
linked to my account or any family settings linked to this account. I should mention that I used to be able to access my Xbox profile page on the Microsoft website and used to a have access to stuff like but trying to access it now results in a "Have your
parent account do this for you"or something along the lines of that I am at a loss for things I can do as there is no 'linked parent account'.

Like I said I used to be able to access privacy setting and my Xbox account from the website but am no longer, the only thing I could imagine caused this is I changed the date of birth on my account to 2003 by mistake but changed it back immediately. Also
I do not own an Xbox One, I am playing on Windows 10.

Please someone have a fix for this I really do not want to make a new account because I have purchased things on this account and dont want to have wasted money.

Sorry to hear it. It sounds like there's an issue with your account because of the DOB change. If you are adjusting your age back to adult then please be sure to provide a credit card with your name on it as proof of age. If you are unable to do this

Can i please check, you are the parent in your house, or are you child that has come of age, because if it is the second one, your parent will have to change the family settings, so you can make purchases.

Okay more information from my mother:

I am not listed under her microsoft family account.

As far as I am aware, I am only under the xbox live family account.

Either this, or my xbox live account is somehow a child account with no parent account attached.

I don't think this is possible though, because if I try to go to xbox.com and change my settings, it says that my parent needs to do so.

Just to get a better understanding, you set up your child's Gamertag under your Microsoft Account? If so, then I'm assuming that you don't have a Gamertag yourself?

That is correct, I do not have my own gamer tag. I simply setup that Microsoft account to play xbkx, now I want to limit screen time so I created a child account

I have an adult account which I have tried to register as a child on xbox.com and they have taken the money 50p from my account but have not updated it's status. Therefore I cannot put restrictions on the account. It seems my only option is to delete it
but I don't understand why it's not registering as a child when the birthdate is a childs and they have registered that they have taken payment???

You cannot change an Adult account to a child account. The 50p charge is to change a child account to an adult account
