Some system functions are downgraded from 360

For the most part, I've been really enjoying my new Xbox One. It runs way faster and more smoothly than the 360, and has a bunch of really slick features. This makes me all the more confused when I'm running into things that I would have expected to be improved
upon from the 360, and instead are far worse. I'll detail these below.

    • 1. Achievement popups. I like having the little popups that say "achievement unlocked!". The 360 suffered from bad popup placement, though, often appearing over important sections of the game screen. Some titles were intelligently designed and shoved this
popup into the extreme upper-left-hand corner, which I think is the ideal place for it. Also, some even more intelligent titles delayed the popup if there was a cutscene going until after the cutscene was finished. The popup itself on the 360 also didn't last
very long - it'd say that an achievement was unlocked, along with how much it was worth, and the name of it. On the Xbox One, I was hoping that all achievement popups would have been placed in the upper corners, but... well, they're not. They still obscure
important details of gameplay. They also linger on the screen longer - it still says the achievement unlocked and value, and then the name, and THEN it cycles to a THIRD section, which says "hold button to launch software", which is completely unnecessary.
If I unlocked an achievement, it's because I was PLAYING A GAME. I don't need to hold down a button to LAUNCH THE GAME I'M ALREADY PLAYING. To make matters worse, 90% of the time, I'm not getting a popup at all! I look at my achievements page later and 7-8
notifications will say I got an achievement, but I didn't see an in-game popup. And yes, I have double-checked my settings to make sure they're enabled. Please, PLEASE fix this functionality?
    • 2. Achievements in same-console multiplayer. Several games I've been playing seemingly disable achievements for any players besides the primary player. More than once my younger brother, signed in on his own Xbox Live Gold account, and playing a co-op game
with me, has done something that unlocked an achievement... which was then awarded to MY profile. This doesn't make any sense. Specific examples can be provided if requested.
    • 3. Background downloads. The 360 had a really nice thing where, if it detected I was playing a game online or watching Netflix, it would pause any downloads I had going, and then resume them when I was done playing. The Xbox One isn't doing this. I don't
have the best internet connection, and I always end up having to navigate to my downloads queue and manually pause the download before playing a game, and then resuming it manually when I'm done. The 360 did this by default, and I can choose to enable it on
Steam, so... I don't know why it's not an option on Xbox One.
    • 4. Console voice settings. Maybe I'm just not finding where this option is, but on 360 I could easily go to my profile settings and disable all voice communications. I can't find this anywhere, so I end up having to mute obnoxious players manually, which
varies in accessibility from game to game. I'd like an option to just turn off all voices from players I'm playing online with.

    :)

  2. Am I the only with with nothing but problems?

I get that it is completely new and I really like the system. However, from the standpoint of function and apps it isn't even close to a 360. My point is that they are slowly releasing patches to make it more user friendly like the 360, and they are slowly
releasing apps just the same as the 360. They are still trying to get to that baseline function. They should have had that baseline established when it launched.

Agree but some complained to not be treated like on another platform.

So Gold has been downgraded with less apps and a "rent games" system.

Remember, that Microsoft listen to their "fans"....Usually,for the worth.

Controller is hypersensitive on Xbox Home Screen

It doesn’t allow me to downgrade on my controller, it’s a series X one which came with the console but it lets me downgrade some of my old ones from Xbox 1.

    Xbox One Feature Request

    I like the following scenario:

To be able to play some Xbox 360 games on your Xbox One console via Emulation. However there will/could be some drawbacks. For example, Game saves from an Xbox 360 console cannot be transferred to an Xbox One console unless that 360 game's saves are available
in the cloud. Xbox Live functionality for some games on Xbox 360 games will be discontinued. You can, however, play system link between Xbox One and Xbox 360 consoles. Lastly, not all games will be supported.

After installing late November update, No sound

Sounds like a problem with the HDMI cable. Is it direct to the TV or through a home theater system and then the TV? If it is home theater you may need to run a digital audio / firewire cable for the audio to function into the receiver.

If you're direct to a TV check you system audio output settings from the Xbox dashboard far right system option. With an HDMI cord you'll ideally want to use Dolby output and let the device it is connect to decide if it will use Dolby or downgrade to a 2
    channel R/L stereo mode.

Hopefully this helps you out a bit.

Why would a next gen console need downgrading from a current gen - looks like I'll get it this Friday on 360 :)

Beta Wont let me sign in!

There are no ways to downgrade your Xbox 360 Dashboard version. I am sorry for the inconvenience this problem has caused you, but unfortunately, downgrading is impossible.
