Some discs with scratches not starting...

I have some games in original discs, but some have scratches and open but do not start the game.

As the game is a original CD/DVD copy and it is not working, am I allowed to download the same games I have in cd/dvd without paying for them again?

Scratches with discs

If the scratches are very light, then I do not think it should effect the disks use too much. Where the scratches are though may effect the disks use, and some scratches may cause the disk to not work and/or freeze. When you install a disk onto the hard
drive, you can play the game from the hard drive, meaning that the disk isn't used. This has the positive effect of not having to hear the disk spinning, but the negative effect of not having as much space on your XBOX's hard drive.

You may want to check that the scratches are scratches and not just marks though. You can do this in a number of ways :

-Use air (blowing across the disk),

-Using a soft, clean cloth (one to clean glasses e.c.t) and wiping lightly from the center of the disk outwards

Hi guys I have light. Very light scratches around my xbox game disc. No it is not laser burn because its not a perfect ring and not deep. Yes it is a ring a rough ring around the disc but I will tell you how they are light you can't see them from different
positions. Anyway will it affect it. What would happen if I didn't install it to hard drive.

 

Sorry to hear it. The scratches may be causing an issue with the disc reader. I would recommend not putting them in your console until you can replace them or have them fixed. As for downloading the games, you would need to purchase them again digitally
before downloading them.

 

The cause the game is not starting may be scratches. You can't download the game even If You have an original CD copy, You Will have to buy It again or You can play "for Free" If You have a subscription of the Xbox Game Pass.

You would have to buy the game once more, I think the neste option to would be the digital version of the game

With disc scratches unfortunately if they can’t be read you need to repurchase a new disk or digital copy, not sure if they still do but GameStop use to sell a disk scratch remover (when I bought it they were $5 each) and it worked well for me bringing some
disks back but since then I just invested in a hard drive and digital copies to prevent this issue.

 

on xbox one the disc is only needed to prove license ownership. So if the disc can't be read you will need to either replace the disc or purchase a digital license for the game. Most likely easiest to have the disc replaced depending on the title, or trying
one of those disc cleaning solutions. There was some stuff i remember video stores having to buff out scratches that was a very industrial solution, but better than what would be sold to regular consumers.
