SOLVED - XBox One games publishing, development and console purchase in Malaysia.

Hi All,

I try to share the experience in using of Xbox One in Malaysia ( non listed Xbox support country ), so you will know what to do if you planning to get Xbox console in a non Xbox listed country.

WHAT YOU CANNOT:

1. You cannot purchase games ( eg.
DAYTONA USA ) online either via
Xbox.com,
Marketplace or Xbox One console store itself due to credit card issues ( zip code will deny the purchase process ).

2. You cannot expect local sellers understand fully how Xbox One works ( some of them don't even plays Xbox ), as they JUST SELL imported Xbox One console and help you send back faulty console with certain charges.

WHAT YOU CAN:

1. You can download and install game(s) that bundled together with your retail Xbox product via its serial registration.

2. You can activate developer mode and deploy test program to Xbox developer mode via WIFI connection and Visual Studio.

3. You can find Xbox One games retail CD products and console from
Lazada Malaysia,
PlayAsia.

4. You can claim Xbox One warranty by sending faulty unit back to Microsoft Singapore with Xbox original serial number.

5. You can send your Xbox concerns to
Xbox Uservoice where I have posted mine, once approved, please vote )

NOTE: In the future, statements above will be updated accordingly whenever there are new information received from Microsoft.

Thanks for the info, I do aware of this news locally.

I am not sure also about XBox console online service, but I do know online purchase via PS4, Mobile Phones, Windows PC, MacOS iTune ...etc already feasible and implemented in Malaysia.

Here, new government just taken place for about 10 months since 9 May 2018, me also looking forward for new law to govern online service better and remove corruptions (
may be is one of the reasons why XBox cannot be recognized here ).

We do have new ministry
MCMC for better control over internet and one of its function is to "Promoting access to communications and multimedia services", check out this

page and the current minister
Gobind Singh is a lawyer.

Some countries take a while for the Xbox platform to come to, it's mainly legal reasons.

A program manager wouldnt know anything about market availability

Thats something you ask your chamber of commerce why arent there any console services in your region etc etc

If you read the other threads it is constantly suggested

Its not a simple.flip of a switch you sre talkingnabout.lawyers politicians etc not program.managers who arent.in the legsl department

Nor will any lawyer talk about cases but your commerce department would know better about policies and regulations for game companies

There are No console online services sre in malaysia which is telling you a lot of what it tskes

If you are serious about finding out your chamber of commerce is the best bet

Remember every region has different content laws

Its not s simple as we want money

Any online services want money but risk ane cost and rules play into it

You cant

One malaysia is not a xbox live supported country

You would have to join either the ID@ https://www.xbox.com/en-CA/developers or join a development team

You can receive payments but you wouldnt be able to publish in the malaysia marketplace as it doesnt exist

Government regulations and taxation play into the availability of games and online services

Since no console support malaysia yet you are going to.have to.talk to.your commerce agency
