Solution to Xbox One not accepting password for wifi router.

Is your Xbox One telling you your password to connect to your wifi router is incorrect even though you know it is correct? This seems to be a consistent and reoccurring problem for Xbox One owners. So, in an effort to help my fellow gamers who spent their
hard earned cash on a great but expensive gaming system, I figured I would post what worked for me when I rectified the problem. Here are the steps I took to get my xbox one to accept my wifi router password.

Step 1 - Go to: Settings; Disc & Blu-ray; Persistent storage; Clear persistent storage. Do this three times. This will clear any persistent storage that may be on your xbox one from blue-ray discs downloads, thus clearing up space.

Step 2 - Go to: Settings; Network; Advanced settings; Alternate MAC address; Clear; Restart. This will clear your MAC address and restart it.

Step 3 - Once it has restarted, go to: Settings; Network; Set up wireless network. From here you will do what you did in the past, namely select your wifi router and enter your password. You should be able to connect to your wifi router. If you are still
having issues, it may be your router. I would suggest chatting on-line with Microsoft/XBox One tech support to find out (support.xbox.com/.../contact-us).

This is the second time very recently to happen to me. All my other devices are working just fine, even my Xbox 360, but the stupid One can't accept my password. I unpluged my router, unplugged my Xbox One power brick. Nothing works.

 

Just out of curiosity does this usually happen to you after playing Destiny Crucible?

 

It happened after the Crucible was played but it didn't occur until the next day. In other words this problem did not show itself until after I shut it off and turned it back on the next day. Also, it only happened once. With that said I'm guessing the
Crucible was not the issue. I could be wrong though.

 

It's only ever happened playing Crucible for me.

I get disconnected waiting to respawn then I can no longer connect using wifi. It doesn't accept the password.

I've since been playing using wifi bridge instead of the built in wifi adaptor and now it never disconnects.

There is some kind of problem with the x1's built in wifi adaptor

 

Hey Malacath. I have been having this problem with the Destiny Crucible too. It kicks me out of Destiny then I have to reset the MAC address then it works. So it is most likely an Xbox one issue

 

this happened on tuesday and resolved itself, then it happened again today but will not fix it self, both times occurring around the same time

I too am having this issue after playing Destiny, I haven't went into the
Crucible yet, it's the game period. But this fixed it of course and first thing I did was login to Destiny and I'll report back if there's another connection issue.

 

my XB1 has been ascting fishy with strange connection issues while playing DBXV, and your advise totally did the trick- just hope that it can be corrected with a system update - but your tips helped me to play for another day.

 

Still persists for me even after doing that, with the internet explorer app as well. Mainly playing Dragonball Xenoverse.

Worked after a frustrating night, until I found your post. Thankyou. Just a comment. Happened while playing Destiny, regular strikes. Was having issues with the game kicking me from progressing and having to restart. Not so bad in the tower, very bad during
a Nightfall. Thanks again.
