SOLUTION: Some game discs not reading/playing - how to fix it!

Recently I've had a problem with my brand new Destiny disc not reading or playing after resetting my Xbox or after powering off, but other disc games & Blu-Rays work fine. I've just found a solution which worked straight away! Some suggested fixes are
lifting up the front of your Xbox as the disc loads, or blowing into the disc drive (which will cause the Xbox to shut down) & these may work for you, but I've found a better, long-term solution. *THE SOLUTION* I thought of how my mobile phone gets a warning
when the storage is almost full & that some functions may not work properly, & as my Day One 500gb XB1 was 92% full & I have to keep uninstalling games to make space for new ones I thought how the hdd being almost full may affect my Xbox's functions, so I
uninstalled 2 large games so my Xbox was only using 68% storage instead of 92%. I then inserted my Destiny disc (with 'instant play' on) & it loaded the game first try! This is a known issue, addressed on an Xbox Support page I found in the disc reading error
section. I've also read online it's a bug which seems to affect older consoles. On the support page it suggests changing your power mode from 'Instant On' to 'Power Saving', then doing a hard-reset by holding the power button 'til the Xbox shuts down. Wait
for the power brick light to turn from white to orange, I then unplug the power & press the 'on' button on the Xbox to purge any remaining power before plugging it back in & turning the Xbox back on. It will take longer to boot up, showing a green 'Xbox One'
logo screen for a while. When I found this solution I had my power mode set to 'Energy Saving' & also my disc settings set to 'play discs automatically'. Hope this was more help than Xbox Support have been to me over the phone! The first operator I spoke to
(an Irish guy - didn't catch his name, unfortunately!) hung up on me when I got sick of repeating myself, & the second guy was suggesting I do a factory reset if the disc was tried & worked on another console/back at the shop I got it from. Although a factory
reset would mean wasting more hours re-installing all my games & everything which I was not going to do, & shouldn't/didn't have to! I knew that wasn't the answer! Looks like I'll have to get an external hdd to avoid this problem in the future. Good luck!

Console not reading some game discs

Hi, I'm having a problem with my console not being able to read some of my game discs. The games are Rockband 3, Warhammer:Space Marine, and a couple of secondhand ones. I have tried cleaning the discs and a lens cleaner as I thought this may be the issue,
I also vacuum the vents and beneath/around the console regularly, but the problem still persists with these particular discs. I have also played my copies of RB3 and WH:Space Marine on a couple of friends consoles and they appear to work perfectly. I'm wondering
if it's possibly a problem with my machine's lens? Can you suggest anything else I could try to maybe narrow the problem down? I'm playing on the old style Xbox 360 so it is a few years old now. Thankyou for any help you can give.
