    Solitaire Klondike Intermittent Screen Black Out


    My screen goes black about every 5 or 10 seconds when I play Solitaire. It stays black for about 2 seconds and goes back to where I left off. It did the same thing about a year ago and quit, but has started again in the last week. I checked to make sure
    I have the current Windows 10 updates. I've restarted the computer. The problem still persists. Is there a fix for this issue?

    Using Windows 10 version on a desktop.

    FxdBrokenLight - First of all, thank you for the quick response. The link you provided gives numerous ways to repair the issue, so that will be very helpful.

    I tried Windows Key+CTRL+Shift+B and it did make a loud beep, but didn't correct the issue. I also tried changing the refresh rate to 59 Hz, but that didn't work either. I checked to make sure my driver did not need updating and it shows it is the most
    current driver available. I checked to make sure the monitor is connected - it is. I have also restarted completely, but no fix there either.

    I was afraid to try some of the more drastic options in the link such as uninstalling Windows 10 and reloading, but it doesn't appear to be a problem with Windows. It seems to be specific to either the Xbox application or with the particular Solitaire game
    itself.

    More information about the issue:

    • I am using a desktop PC
    • The only time the screen cuts on and off to black is when I'm playing Solitaire through the Xbox app. (As boring as this sounds, I don't know if it occurs while playing other games because Solitaire is the only one I play). I did a test by playing Candy
      Crush and got no black screen
    • It does not cut on and off at all when using any other program, including I.E. 11.
    • I experienced the same issue about a year ago and quit playing the game for a few weeks and that seemed to correct the problem temporarily as it has been working fine since then. I just started having the same problem in the last week

    Since your laptop goes black randomly, there can be two reasons: (1) incompatible display driver software , or (2) a failing backlight,
    which means a hardware issue. Connect your laptop to an external monitor and check if the screen there goes blank randomly as well. If so, then it's clearly an OS issue.
