  1. Solid State Harddrive for Xbox One

    Can someone advice.

I am thinking of getting a SSHD for my xbox one. Samsung seems a decent and popular make, but there is many different options. Some have USB 3 which can plug straight into the xbox, but these seem expensive.

The internal ones seem cheaper. But I would need a cradle.

Has anyone got a Samsung SSHD?

Is the USB external faster than the internal?

    Which cradle is best?

    What should I go for.

    Many thanks,

    :)

Got to correct one thing, your use of the term Solid State. It is a Hard Disk Drive (HDD) that is not removable. Not a Solid State Hard Drive. There are Solid State Drives (SSD). That are meant as alternative to Hard Drives. They are much more expensive
and much faster (I have one in my laptop, love it). Solid State doesn't mean removable, it means it is a type of integrated circuit. Like vacuum tube amplifiers versus solid state ones for audio/music for example.

    Hey mate.

First things first. It would need to be a USB 3 for a external drive. If you look at doing internal it will void your warranty and getting the OS might be a issue since it's not designed to be replaced. I'd stick to external. (which is the supported function,
messing with internals of any xbox has always been a no no)

SSHD is not really needed if your looking for a few seconds load increase on some games that's about the most it does (bar Fallout 4 which has some notable performance improvements regarding frame drops) However considering a standard external drive price
compared to SSHD and especially SSD I'd stick to s standard and go bigger (ie. more space) You will notice a improvement anyway over the stock internal since USB 3 is actually slightly quicker then the internal.

Still if your set on a SSHD samsung are class and worth the cash. I'd recommend them regardless of what drive you go for. (possibly a Seagate since they do a £100 5TB that's compatible and are a decent storage brand)

Just don't mess with the internal.

Xbox one and Xbox elite same harddrive or not?

    Hi

The Xbox One contains a conventional hard drive and the Xbox One Elite contains something known as a solid state hybrid drive this **** that the hard drive in the Elite is a conventional drive but it also has small amount of solid state memory that the console
uses to help speed thing up a little compared the regular hard drive.

Xbox One no longer recognizing external hard drives

    Hey Trencher,

I would like to apologise for any inconvenience caused,

Can you check to see if the External HardDrive has a light that flashes when on and solid when it's been used by the Xbox, this will make it easier to know if it's the External HardDrive or the Xbox, once it's formatted to Xbox One plugging it into a PC
might not let you open it without won't lreformat the External HardDrive to PC then lose your Xbox Data so I would suggest trying it in another Xbox One but it will make a sound and should have a pop up saying detected a new device process to format device,

If it doesn't work in another Xbox One then we can safely say the External HardDrive is defected and if it's still in warranty I would suggest contacting the manufacturer to see what can be done,

I hope this was helpful and answered your questions

Would a new console running 360 games reduce load times?

That's cause Xbox 360 has HDD not Solid State Hard Drive. It's probably a 5400rpm HDD found in many places including laptops. Solid State Hard Drives are faster, have no moving parts, and consume less power, but are too expensive. Even a 250GB Solid State
Hard Drive would be quite expensive if one is included in the next generation of xbox console. Nintendo has a solid state hard drive in it's Nintendo U or it's 8th gen console. Microsoft might go for a solid state hard drive for the Xbox Dashboard and regular
HDD as the main source, in its next console. An awesome processor isn't enough. The storage device needs to be good too. HP uses this method in some of its home laptop PC's, like a 32GB SSD and 500 HDD the SSD in such case used to make the computer and OS
    start up lightning fast.
