Sold 2 Microsoft Xbox Live Gold 1 year subscriptions on Ebay. Question.

I should have known better and I have definitely learned my lesson not to ever do it again.

I had 2 digital codes for 2 subscriptions that I sold on Ebay. I actually sold about 6, but 2 of the buyers later claimed someone else made an unauthorized payment with their credit card and they wanted their money back from me.

The 2 buyers never contacted me. They went straight to Paypal resolution center a few weeks after the purchase. Each is scamming me I feel 100% confident but Paypal always lets the buyer win when dealing with a digital code. I sent both codes to the buyers
both through Ebay Messaging and their Paypal emails. I basically lost just over 100.00.

Of course I still have the codes that they were sent. Is there anyway at all I can stop these codes from working. I have no idea what their Xbox profile is. I'm thinking this is just a lessons learned for me and they each get a free 1 year membership. It's
ashamed there are scammers on Ebay that are just looking for this type thing. They know if there is no tracking number, they get free subscriptions because all they do is file a claim with Ebay or Paypal and they win.

Have you contacted eBay about these illegal transactions? I guess you could try contacting MS Support about the actions and the codes to see if they could be invalid.

Future reference, maybe try actually sending the physical cards to them or bundling it with a game. I don't really know, I'm sorry.

 

Thanks. I purchased them as a digital code at a very good price from a reputable seller. I resold on Ebay. The codes were good. I did call Microsoft and codes were good but they couldn't deactivate them without having the person's Xbox profile, which of
course I don't have.

I wish before Paypal refunds these scam buyers their money back, they would require the codes be deactivated somehow since if they aren't going to pay for them, they shouldn't be using them. These type Ebay scammers know they can get by with this so they
continue. I don't sell anything digital anymore. That's for sure.

 

eBay is full of scammers when it comes to digital items. They look for sellers such as yourself who send the codes digitally. When you do that, you are pretty much opening yourself up for problems. You can waste your time going to eBay and Paypal and explaining
your issue until you are blue in the face but it won't get you anywhere. Unless you provide TRACKING that shows you sent something tangible through the mail, or UPS, FedEx, etc, you will lose every single case brought against you by a buyer. Period. That isn't
meant to belittle you, it's brutal honesty. You ALWAYS have to ship a physical item and provide the tracking number as soon as you ship by uploading it to the auction itself, or uploading it through the Paypal payment if it is an off-eBay transaction.

While there are a lot of good honest people on eBay, there are others who know the scams and will take advantage of it all day long. All a person has to say, as you experienced, is "I never got it" and if you don't provide a tracking number, eBay/Paypal
will side with the buyer 100% of the time. Basically you are putting your trust in a complete stranger, and sometimes it works out, other times it does not.

My question now since the codes have been reported as stolen, can I have the codes deactivated? I ended up being scammed on 3 codes all reported as being purchased with unauthorized funds. I would like codes deactivated. If these buyers report them as unauthorized
then i want to prevent them from being used.

Is there a phone number I can call to talk to someone at Microsoft that can help me out? Any help would be appreciated.
