Soft Touch coating on Elite Series 2 Xbox controller

Last week my Xbox Elite Series 2 controller arrived and I noticed that it has this rubbery plastic coating often referred to as "soft touch coating" surrounding the sticks and face buttons.

In the past I had bad experiences with this kind of soft touch coating: An expensive computer mouse, a mechanical keyboard as well as a really expensive steering wheel base (all from smaller manufacturers who maybe didn't test for this effect) became grossly sticky with the reason for this being - I am pretty sure this is it - that they soaked up a lot of sunlight through big windows. The mouse lasted 3 years and the wheel base only about 1.5 years (I basically never touched the wheel base, so it can't be from hand oils or sweat) before they turned disgustingly sticky with the surface looking like it had sweat out its oils that then turned adhesive.

So my question is: Will this happen to my Elite Series 2 controller too within about 2 years if I leave it on my desk where the sun will shine on it through a window for some hours during the day? I was hoping that this expensive controller would last many many years.

Does somebody know the technical name of this kind of coating? Did Microsoft test for this?

Sorry to hear you are unsatisfied with the current Xbox controllers, however, the question forum is the incorrect place to post your feedback. Unless you are asking about current Xbox controller advancements in-which case that would be the Xbox Elite Controller
Series 1 and Xbox Elite Controller Series 2. The Xbox Elite Controller Series 2 being the newest on the market and being awarded,
"Best of E3 2019 - Hardware/Peripheral" - Game Critics Awards.

Thanks for the reply. The Elite controller series 2 has various methods of mapping the buttons and paddles as compared to the series 1. If you haven't done so already, I recommend taking a look at the following support articles that
can assist you in determining how to set up the different functions, including how to use Shift with the controller to give you alternate inputs:
