So Xbox Scorpio will be the worlds most expensive console...

I just watched a YouTube video. It mentioned Phil Spencer and someone else from Microsoft Xbox. It looks like Scorpio will be much more expensive than PS4 Pro. And it won't be released until what could be LATE NEXT YEAR. They mentioned that it could cost
as much US$1,000. When Xbox 1 launched, Microsoft gave a RRP in NZ of NZ$749, which included Kinect. When PS4 Pro launched this month, Sony set a RRP in NZ for a very fair NZ$638.

So what do you speculate Xbox Scorpio will have? What looks like 12x1GB GDDR5 modules? 4k native games? an above 2.6Ghz AMD 8 core APU? 4K Blu-ray drive? Slightly slimmer than the original Xbox 1 would be preferable. I'm surprised that the PS4 Pro 1TB (HDD
console) starts up in 15 seconds. Xbox One 500GB takes 2 minutes to start up. Depending on how expensive it is, I might consider exchanging my Day1 Xbox 1 console for the Scorpio. But I will keep the Kinect! Xbox 1's DDR3 68GB/s bandwidth is pretty weak by
todays standards. Reason why I got a PS4 Pro this month and created my first PSN account for it, is because World of Final Fantasy, and Final Fantasy XV and enjoy it with better visual fidelity. Neither of those games are for PC yet. And since Final Fantasy
XV Square Enix has taken 10 years to make! And I'm not waiting another year for Scorpio to come out as the game comes out November 29th 2016 XD. I will get an Xbox copy though as I've had Xbox since late 2010 and have had a blast about it. I don't like how
you can't change your gamertag on PS4. I think the Xbox Live features are the best software and online service made by the worlds biggest software company. The Xbox 1 UI is pretty good, but I've tried the PS4 Pro UI and it's much more faster and sleek. But
loading online features like store is much slower than Xbox 1. Maybe because Xbox 1 has over 300,000 Microsoft servers world wide.

    :)

    Xbox project Scorpio

If project Scorpio is going to be the most expensive console and advanced. I would like Microsoft and Xbox to strike a deal to have steam attached for pc games to be ran. If it is going to be so "advanced" then show up Sosteam Playstation by teaming up with
steam. Different servers of course for pc and console players can have a fair chance with their own.

I also know a girl who also got PS4 Pro just for Final Fantasy XV. I also subscribed to her channel. I have tried the Final Fantasy XV Demos on Xbox 1, and they have weaker fps, bad anti-aliasing, lower native resolution. I tried the XV Demo on PS4 Pro,
it had easily noticeably better visuals. And anti-aliasing was A+. I still love Xbox more though.

  5. If the Scorpio can do everything Microsoft claim then a $1000 price point isn't out of the question, they are essentially selling a high end PC and those tend to be quite expensive.

It is why I've said in other threads that I believe that Microsoft will have to sell the Scorpio at a loss if they want people to buy it.

Part of what attracts console gamers to consoles is the low initial purchase price compared to a PC, there is no way the majority of console gamers are going to jump at a $1000 machine

Where are you getting $1,000? No price point was ever announced. The only thing Phil Spencer said was that it would cost more than the Xbox One S. Which is expected given the tech that is going to be used to get native 4K gaming.

Where is a link to this video to back up your statement?

Yes, it's a placeholder thingy price, but it will 99.9% likely sell in Australia and New Zealand for nearly or close enough to $1,000. But it will definitely cost A LOT MORE than the PS4 Pro. Scorpio will not be a high end PC unless it has above 3.0Ghz clock
speed 8 core CPU or AMD APU. Simulation games rely heavily on CPU computation stuff as the CPU is better at handling simulation computing than a GPU. Games like The Sims 4 and Planet Coaster rely on a good CPU, not just a good GPU. You can have a good GPU,
but if you don't have a good CPU with a decent clock speed (3.0Ghz and above), you can't really call it a high end hardware.

  9. A graphics card for 4k gaming alone is around $600, if they are going to want to target 60fps as well then they are going to need a fairly beefy processor to keep up (they can also cost hundreds of dollars). Then add in the rest of the components.

Now true they'll likely get a bulk discount but it isn't going to take that much off the final cost. They are going to either sell the console at a high end PC price or take a hit and sell it at a loss.

Ask yourself the question. Would most console gamers be willing to pay the price of a pretty good gaming PC for their console?

smileskybird: For your sake, I hope FFXV is worth all of the expense and anticipation that precedes its long overdue arrival. Once upon a time, I entertained the notion of a day one edition, replete with steelbook, but at the eleventh hour have pulled my
preorder for two reasons: 1) I've already shelved the likes of Mafia III, Gears of War 4 and Dishonored 2 because I was deeply ensconsed in Skyrim Special Edition - a five-year-old masterpiece that has lost none of its enduring long-term appeal, aesthetic
or narrative value despite the arrival of more fashion-forward competitors. Which brings me to reason 2) I stopped playing Skyrim because my most wanted GOTY usurped the throne - Watch Dogs 2.

Sony is making a big play for 4K early adopters, despite leaving out a crucial piece of the 4K puzzle: UHD Blu-ray playback. Watch Dogs 2 plays like a dream on Xbox One, but admittedly looks rough in comparison to the newfangled 'faux-K' version running
on the other platform. Do I throw my hands into the air, cry foul or otherwise pay Sony for the privilege of a competitive edge? Heck no, because none of the Sony properties interest me in the slightest, and I know in my heart of hearts that Scorpio will hit
the ground running with fully-optimized, natively 4K games that will crucially build upon everything that came before - including GOTY versions with all-inclusive DLC packs (I'm assuming).

Again, as for paying Sony for the privilege of a slightly better-looking FFXV game - despite not knowing how the final product will play out, both critically and commercially - that's one bet I'm not willing to make. Besides, I fully intend to maximize my
time with Watch Dogs 2 through January, after which I shall return to the only RPG that matters - *my* take on the Dragonborn legend, without a bunch of wishy-washy, preening soldiers of fortune along for the ride. To each their own, I guess! So Xbox Scorpio will be the worlds most expensive console... ;)

So there is no video???. You just decided to mention a video in your OP that Phil Spencer and some other person from Xbox said the price would be $1,000. Your suspect credibility is once again on display after a history of posting inaccuracies on these forums

A place holder is just that. EB doesn't have any information regarding the price of the Scorpio.

  12. Yet the pricing guess isn't outrageous. At current prices $1000 for a 4k 60fps gaming PC would be an impossibility.

Now true prices are going to drop and Microsoft would get a bulk discount, but that $1000 would still be fairly accurate if the Scorpio can do all that is being claimed.

So Xbox Scorpio will be the worlds most expensive console...

The problem with pretty much everything in response there is that it CURRENTLY costs about $600 for a 4K graphics card, this time next year those same cards that CURRENTLY cost $600 will be cheaper.

Also, if I remember right I don't think Microsoft has ever said 4K/60fps, and if we are looking at 4K/30fps, then that really starts to look a lot more reasonable price. I mean you can get the GTX 1070 for roughly £380.

Also remember that you can always get more "bang for your buck" when it comes to consoles and CPU/GPU's purely because you don't have an overweight OS running in the background like Windows 10 (I know Xbox One has a version of Windows 10, but its seriously
    cut back to the bones)

Personally I think for the Xbox Scorpio, we are looking at £400 - £500 at launch.
