So what happens to inactive players on the Xbox platform

There’s a name that I really want “Cal II S141” but it’s taken by a guy who hasn’t logged on since 2017 would I just have to wait and hope they change the gamertag which could take x amount of weeks, months or even years

All Microsoft accounts have a gamer tag whether or not they use Xbox. as long as they log into their MS account on any Microsoft services like Skype, outlook, or office, every few years, the account will not be deleted

The only way to fix this(for xbox one) would be to remove cross platform play so the 360 players can only play with other 360 players. I cant see that happening though.

Been happening for years on multiplayer games.

Luckily a lot of games know kick players that are inactive for a certain amount of time

This will only happen once:

a) all of the details with the cross-platform play are ironed out with Microsoft

and

b) Square Enix releases an Xbox version of the game, which required the above to happen

The 'world server' for Final Fantasy 14 is shared between PS4 and Windows (I have FF14 on both). So players on PC and play with players on PS4. That's why the game was never released for Xbox One - they didn't want to have a 2nd server for just the Xbox
players (which makes sense).

Last I read was that Microsoft was leaving it up to developers to enable cross-platform play, but I don't think that's happened on any game yet or if that is actually the case.
