so next gen controllers cant work like last gen?

so im playing extinction on cod ghosts for a few achievements and im in the middle of a match when my controller dies...so i grab my other controller off the quick charge station and go through the annoyance of having to reassign my profile to my controller
(ya thats 1 of the lame new features)...but then ghosts doesnt recognize this new controller and tells me to plug back in the old one thats dead...wtf is going on with this generation..are they just trying to annoy everyone with lack of voice message features,
forcing wires for headsets, redirecting people going to the forums to your store page, making people have to assign their own profiles to a new controller plugged in, games not recognizing new controllers...i mean come on...who the heck makes millions of dollars
and then goes back and removes basic consumer friendly functions like this? oh its MS...*sigh* to the feedback section...AGAIN.

My Kinect sensor reassigns the controllers for me.

 

I had done trouble during the last few preview updates with the same situation. It has been resolved for me though. Not sure if that's because kinect does what it should and reassigns for me.

 

Surely this is a game problem, I have not had this with other games when I swap controllers?

Out of curiosity did the battery warning not pop up ?

 

make sure your controllers are updated with the newest firmware also

 

Why didn't you just take the battery out of the charged one

I have a "Plug & Play kit", so this issue is non-existent for me. If my controller is low on batteries, I just plug the USB cable into it.

 

@GG What do you mean that the Kinect reassigned the controllers? I still have to exit out of a game completely to the home screen. Then I can reassign a controller ie; my scuff one so I can game on COD AW. So for me I am still dealing with the same issue

Changing disc and batteries has just become to much of a challenge for some gamers.

 

i swap controllers just fine.

 

i'm with Eggnogga, when i get the notification that the battery is low, i wait for a break in the game and plug in the USB cable, i haven't had to deal with a dead controller since that update.

 

ok so I must admit im still not used to the idea of updating a controller and havent in a while...so thats my own ignorance that and MS not just having something on the dashoboard letting you know a new controller update is available. That did solve the
assignment problem...my new controller now auto assigns. However some games I play like cod ghosts still doesnt recognize the new controller and tells you to plug back in the original one...not sure to chalk that one up to the game developers (yes cod game
devs are some of the laziest rehash developers I know) or MS for not communicating with them how the controller system works. Either way half the problem is solved. Yes a quick work around would be just to switch the batteries out, however I have a quick
charge dock for a reason...i'm not dragging a usb cord across 8 ft and attaching yet another wire like some of you, nor do I feel I should have to switch battery packs out when I purchase two controllers for the ease of just grabbing one off the dock and turning
it on. If it was meant to just switch out batteries dont you think there would of just been a 360 type docking station just for batteries?

 

Man the laziness of gamers is really getting out of control! I don't want to plug in a cord. I hate DRM but I don't want to have to change discs. Omg the beer fridge is just to far away and that bucket of KFC should just feed itself to me. Boy people really
are running out of things to complain about if this is all they can come up with. First world problems huh?
