I seen the new system and read about it thinking it would be cool i could finally have and OG simple gamertag like how Activision is doing with modern warfare however when I tried to change it to a gamertag thats just simple like "Sacred" from I Sacred
Fire I it changed it to just Sacred. Cool right? Nah.. It put a bunch of stupid numbers in game after my name to "Differenciate me from other players so others don't get confused". Which if you get confused by two people with the same name you must be 3 years
old or have the IQ of a walnut. Now I had to spend 10$ to change it back to my old gamertag because i don't want stupid number behind it... No-one wanted numbers on there name no-one... But wait that's not all! Since whoever let a monkey decide to lower it
to 12 characters I WAS NOT ABLE TO GET MY OLD ONE BACK... This system is severly flawed and should NOT cost to change your gamertag. This system needs to be looked at better. But the biggest thing is how many people you got with this Microsoft the "oh yeah
you can have your own personal name BUUUUUUUTTTTTT we silently are going to put numbers behind it so its not really personalized good luck! "

My name is pretty unique since i created it.. So im not worried about it. Still think they should allow atleast 15 characters

Sorry you feel hard done by. I think it was fairly widely publicised that there would be a suffix after your name if you chose a duplicate of someone else's though.

I mean it was I understood there would be a #2234 or whatever behind my name on my profile that would be kinda small and grayed out however in game I figured it would be the exact same way the Og style name with he #2234 off the the side hidden away not
just simply making it "Sacred2234" which is the complete opposite of having a "personalized" name its literally the old system that would recommend numbers behind your name to choose from if it was taken except on your profile it shows as just "Sacred" and
it just sticks numbers behind in game that look horrendious so there really is no "personalization" on in game name which is what people want.

With regards to gamertag, even on the page where you change, it makes it clear that the new length is different, it specifies it directly under where you enter name

I did read it yes and understood it could be only 12 if that gamertag is taken it wants to put numbers to fill those extra spots to not confuse HOWEVER if that gamer tag is NOT taken you should be allowed to put as many characters as you were previously
since no-one will be able to copy yours.

i feel like its something that every gaming platform is doing now. even social media things including discord. which i think let to the initial change of gt for xbox was the team up with cord. i don't see og names even being a thing in years to come. i
feel that the numbers won't be much of an issue since most games will turn into that and not show numbers on screen.

No offense my dude but they made the change pretty well known and you should have looked into things before spending $10 to change it for nothing. Sorry you're upset with the change!
