So I left the program but now my Xbox has a 4 GB update. Why is that?

So try and explain why Imcan download a game update but it will not let me download or extract the console update. Now it's telling me the my 4 gb storage in the Xbox is bad. WTH.

Further to this, the 3.7gb update has installed, I've gotten in to the settings for the preview program and disconnected my xbox from it and I now have a 3.6gb update to install. Any explanations?

The console OS is around 3.7 GB depending on the region. When you left the preview program, that update would have rolled you back to the latest public update.

If you miss an Xbox update the file size is around 3.7 as it needs to install the OS again if you do not miss an update the file size is around 500mb. (by miss I mean where you don't update your console and a new update comes out).

Hey there. Im an xbox ambassador that is having this EXACT issue. What i did so far is taking my system off the Insider program which initiated a ~4 gb update and since then its been working pretty well. Hopefully youre in the program as well, just make
sure to fully opt out of it for now to try to fix your system. Let me know if that is fixing it

well the left bumper thing theres no update option i guess its initial setup and i have the 4 gb xbox so its in motherboard but i have a flashdrive i can remove that but not motherboard

It's not just the size of the "update" that we are stuck with.

I understand that the games developers might be responsible for the patch size, but what about the terrible service provided from Microsoft in regards to actually getting that update downloaded???

My 66 GB update was started around 6pm last night, i left the XBox on overnight, it's now 10:46am & the download is on 54.35 GB, 82% & is saying it has 6.5 hours to go???

I have also been trying to download Mechwarrior 5 on my PC through Game Pass, that also has been going for roughly the same amount of time, it is on 7 GB of 44 GB.
