So I got an Xbox one

Hi everyone been a while since I posted here don't know if anyone really remembers me or not. But anyway just picked up an Xbox One today after holding off for almost a year. Got no games atm due to Tesco fault, so just mainly been on dashboard and playing
forza demo lol. Should have Forza Horizon 2 soon and will be getting the Halo Collection

Got some questions though, is it normal for the one to have this annoying grinding/whirring noise constantly when running (I should treat this as a yes, but after the 360 and it's noise level can't be too sure ) and I had to turn off the instant on setting
as when it's in stand by the noise it makes is just annoying, do I have a faulty unit or is it just the noise it makes? Can't tell if it's the power Brick or not

Also are MS planning on bringing back a guide like the 360? Not really a fan of how the Xbox one seems to break a lot of things up that were so well integrated on the 360 and treat them as "apps".

Are there more gamerpics to download? can't seem to find any on the store

Some small time name on Instagram gave me a shout for being the 100th. I've been getting on the #xboxone hash tag and trying to find a few new people to check the site out daily. Always bringing in friendlies from elsewhere.

Sorry to say mate it shouldnt make any noise at all really. Certainly not a grinding sound and not a whisper in stand by mode. Sounds like you may have a faulty one. Theres loads of gamerpics find them in your profile somewhere.

there's a whole thread about this - type noisy xbox into the search bar and you should stumble across it. I got mine a couple of days ago, also from tesco, and I got the noise - apparently it's coil whine (don't know what that means to be honest) There's
seems to be some evidence to suggest it might get sorted in the oct update but microsofts official line is get it exchanged or repaired.

 

Thanks for the reply's guys. Yeah I read that too Roy, coil whine similar to video, seems to effect the Kinectless Xbox One

Also read about the new update fixing it, but something physical in the system not sure how much it'll do though, if anything.

I took it back to today and a replacement Xbox is getting sent to my local Tesco express just down the road. If it continues to do this I will just get a refund I think and try again at a later point to see if the problem is gone.

 

Ok got replacement, all good super quiet just enjoying some Titanfall (never really got into it on PC for some reason)

Ive just sent mine of for repairs as it had the exact same problem the Xbox one shouldn't be make any noise at all so set a repair up with Microsoft they do say it does not harm the safety of functionality of the system but they are advising you to set a
repair up for it.

 

just a quick question that i didnt wanna make a new thread for, how do i record something without kinect?

 

^^ double tap the guide button, the option should appear then press x to record.

 

That double tap guide button thing only works with the October update though (not sure if your in the preview group)

So if it doesn't work don't be surprised, it will work once the October update goes live for everyone (hopefully soon)

 

Yeah forgot about that, iam indeed part of the preview, so as Shaggy says everyone will be able to record clips that way once the october update is released
