So Frustrated with Xbox live and Apple-Help..cant connect

My son has had his xbox 360 for a while He has never gone actually online to play with others yet because I didn't have the xbox live purchased. I purchased a membership for Xmas and we put it in and of course we cannot get online.

I have an airport extreme 6.3 downstairs as my router . I also have a comcast internet modem. We have no trouble with all our other devices. I have tried to troubleshoot a lot of this stuff...a lot is above my head. But I followed instructions going into
my airport and putting it on the dmx<?> . It did not work.

When I go in and look at the settings in the xbox, it doesn't look like it's recognizing my internet at all because there isn't info in it. It shows my wireless connection. I connect to it and it gets past the router stage but won't get passed the internet
stage. I have restarted everything ...

I don't know what else to do? I also now have a wasted xbox live membership. If I cannot connect, there has got to be someone I can contact and see if I can get a refund for the price of a membership I cannot use? There is nothing on the membership saying
it isn't compatible with an Airport Extreme.

I am at a loss ...Any ideas?

can someone please help[ me my connection is fine but the service alert says i cant connect to xbox live. I need help i havent been able to connect for 2 hours and im very frustrated

Hey nyan dude!

Is your airport extreme router using WEP security? The Xbox 360 has occasionally been unable to obtain an IP address when the router uses WEP security. If you're able, try using WPA2 instead.

In case it's helpful, here's what the thread on that router says about changing the security type:

Changing Wireless Security Type/ Disabling Wireless Security

1. Open the AirPort Admin Utility. (It is installed in the Utilities folder in the Applications folder on a Macintosh computer, and in Start > All Programs > AirPort on computers using Windows.)
   
2. Click on your base station.
3. Enter the admin password you created when the device was initially setup.
4. Click the edit button on the resulting pop up.
5. Select Wireless from the tabs at the top.
6. Select the desired Security Type from the Wireless Security drop down. Select None for no Wireless Security.
   
7. Click the Update button in the lower right.

You mentioned a Comcast modem.

Would that happen to be a Technicolor-TC8305C or Arris model?

There also seems to be a bit of an issue with Connection Tests on the 360 right now which seem to be causing failures regardless of the actual status, so testing your connection that way might not help much until it's fixed.

What message are you getting when you try to sign in normally? Are there any error codes?

 

I don't think the issue has anything to do with the wireless. I'm on a wired connection and it always worked on my old router. First time using my 360 since upgrading to the Airport Extreme and now it won't connect to the internet, despite prompting me for
and performing a system update after booting the console. I'm not sure if it's related to the latest firmware, or if it's just an incompatibility with the Airport. Every other device I have (Xbox One, PS4, PS3, PC, iPhone, etc) works just fine.

 

Xbox Support just informed me that some Xbox 360 users are experiencing this issue. It's not affecting everyone which is why they haven't announced it on the XBL service status page. There's nothing we can do, it's all on the XBL back-end team to address.

I have 2 xboxs in my room 1 connected to live but the other wont because it connects to router then thats it doesnt find the internet connection. So this IS on xboxs end? If so will it get fixed eventually? Just randomly gonna work one day?
