So I bought a 3 month card, 25 bucks, and I get all the benefits like downloading free games, but I literally can't do anything else, and it's really frustrating atm due to me not wanting free games from Xbox Gold but to play online with friends, yet here
I am stuck, I have checked my profile and it says I have it, checked the card and it says I have redeemed it, but when I go into a game it says I must purchase it AGAIN, like seriously? I can see why some people choose PlayStation over Xbox now, cause this
is complicated af.

Hi,

There is a bug after redeeeming a xbox live code, i believe in can take awhile to get full xbox live privileges.

you can try these steps;

1. Powercycle your console
https://support.xbox.com/en-GB/xbox-one/console/power-cycle-console

2. Remove and re-add your account
http://support.xbox.com/en-GB/my-account/manage-gamertag-and-profile/add-remove-account-xbox-one

You don't need to purchase it again.

I don't know if anyone else already posted the solution to this, but a friend had the same issue with the same error. The problem was, he was trying to redeem a code over a trial gold. Live Gold and Gold Trial, doesn't mix up, that's why the solution is
to let the gold subsciption end and then redeem the code. So if you have a Live Gold and try to redeem a Trial code (like the one included with the xbox) or the other way around, it won't work.

I'm afraid it is not free to join Xbox LIVE Gold, unless you have free trial codes to redeem. On the other hand, upon the creation of any account, you are offered (only once) one free month of Xbox LIVE Gold membership. You can join, and find out more about
Gold, by looking at the
Join Xbox LIVE Gold page. It also gives you further details of the features you can get with purchasing gold!

So do you mean you bought a new console and there was an Xbox Live Gold subscription provided?

If yes, did you check if there was a code to redeem?

Okay, quick update! I tried redeeming the code with a different account which doesn't have Live Gold and it works. I didn't click Redeem but it does work. This leads me to believe that I can't redeem a game I already have through Games With Gold.

Do It with a browser

I already mentioned in my original post that I have tried every possible browser and app to try and redeem it but it just doesn't work on the account which has an active Gold subscription.
