So are there still a lot of players?

Just adding additional input:

1: It definitely seems to be. Plenty of vets and newcomers daily. I run into level 2's and such constantly, so you won't be alone in venturing out.

2: Absolutely not. But then again, it really is a different type of game. Titanfall, in my opinion, is a lot simpler and the community is more laid back.

3: I usually play without my mic at work. That being said, when I'm home, I'll plug it in once I hear someone talking. (Which is usually every couple games.) Audio cues in this game xan be very faint, even with the in-match music turned to zero. So it's
almost always a choice of talking or hearing in this game. That's not to say that the game is quiet at all. The explosions and titan footsteps are super loud and that's why you can't hear the cues of C4 or silenced gunfire very well.

4: Since the update last month, matchmaking seems to try to balance teams. However, all it seems to do is mis up the teams after every match. This can result in a severe butt kicking.

5: Sorry, couldn't tell ya. I haven't decided to buy them because, unlike COD, the original maps still entertain me.

Thanks for that. I eventually completed the first campaign so now I'm starting the militia. I'm having a ton of fun with this game. I can't believe I waited so long to play.

"I can't figure out how to jump on someone else's titan"

You just have to run at them and jump, but you have to do it from the right distance. If you get too close before jumping and the titan changes direction, they can easily step on you and kill you. What I usually do is double jump, or I'll get to higher ground
so I can jump down on top of them. You can even land on enemy titans after ejecting from your own, or land on them by jumping off zip lines on certain maps.

The campaign can be a pain because of players quitting. If you play a level, then a bunch of players from one team leave (usually cos they've just taken a beating), the game will search for new players, but after a short time the search extends to other
levels, including the one you've just played.

Game still has a solid population. I rarely wait for matches.

I bought it today so here's hoping I like it.
