So are there still a lot of players?

I was thinking of finally getting this game as there isn't much out there at the moment. I have a few questions I was hoping someone could answer. Thanks.

1: Is it still really active? I'd hate to buy it and find it hard to get a game.

2: Is the community the same as CoD?

3: Do people talk or is everyone in party chat?

4: How is matchmaking? Will I just be thrown in with really good players so I get owned all night?

5: Are the DLC maps any good?

:)

2. So how does the infinity challenge work.

People are still cheating. Naughty93 has been removed but a lot of them are still up there.

3. 50's in every game

There are a lot of high ranks, Overall the community is great but there are still a lot of team killers and quitters. They are the only thing keeping me from going back.
1: Is it still really active? I'd hate to buy it and find it hard to get a game.
I get into games very quickly, especially with the new update. There have been quite a few people on these forums complaining that it takes them 5+ minutes to get into games.
Is the community the same as CoD?
God no, lol. I have received two hate messages since this game launched. I lost count of the amount of hate messages I received in CoD: Ghosts,
and I only played that game for 3 months.
Do people talk or is everyone in party chat?
I'm always in party chat, so I wouldn't know, but I have had a lot of players in game
add me.
How is matchmaking? Will I just
be thrown in with really good players so I get owned all night?
Matchmaking is excellent after the latest update. Some people have been complaining about getting put up against good players, but it's been the total opposite for me. I have been getting matched against players around my skill
level. If you do come up against a good team that are not in a party, after the game the teams will get mixed.
Are the DLC maps any good?
I love the DLC, you only get three maps, but they are well designed and well worth the price tag. You also have the new Marked for Death game mode which is free. It's a great game mode, very tactical and if you don't work
as a team you will lose.

Let us know what you decide!

Just to expand upon what BHC Bluez n 2z said about people talking: I will occasionally have people on my team who are talking but it usually sounds like they're talking to someone they know, not random people they got teamed up with. That having been said
if you see someone with the megaphone icon next to their name, chances are they have a mic on and will talk if others speak up. A lot of people are just waiting for someone else to speak first.

Just be careful you don't scream at someone who has that icon and doesn't talk back. I had headphones on, with no mic, a few weeks ago and some guy cursed me out because he thought I was ignoring him. LOL

The matchmaking is really good now, outside of the 2 campaigns. There's still loads of people playing it in the UK on the West Europe server (can't speak on any of the other servers) and the game is still selling really well - the Xbox One version was #5
in the all format charts last week, and that's 16 weeks after it launched.

In regular multiplayer matches, people join the lobbies, then as the countdown hits 10 seconds, the players are shuffled around to find the best balance. That's done based on skill, not player generation or level, which are not necessarily related. Obviously,
if you're in a party with friends, you'll stay on the same team as them. Once a match is over, if you stay in the lobby with the same team, the players may be shuffled around again (depending on who leaves and who joins) before the next match begins.

In the campaign, it doesn't work the same way. You keep the same team whether you win or lose, because there's 2 campaigns - one for the IMC and one for the Militia (the 2 factions in the game), so it wouldn't make sense to swap you around from one to the
other at random as they have different stories. So, if you go up against a team that hammers you, then the match ends and you all stay in the lobby, you're going to go up against that tough team in the next match too.

I've put in over 150 hours and I've heard hardly anyone speak. You get the occasional person shouting "hello? Is anyone there" or some guy that's just babbling away to himself, but that's about it in my experience. It's so fast paced that I don't talk either,
unless I'm playing in a party with friends. You can see when people are in parties as they have a specific icon next to their name in the lobby, but to be honest, the majority of players seem to be going solo. Unlike COD, I have not heard a single person shouting
insults down the mic or anything like that.

People who've come over from COD tend to get hammered in this game until they get used to it, because they'll be creeping about on the ground all the time or trying to camp. You need to get used wall running, double-jumping, and making the best use of the
environment, for example, if you wall run along the side of a building it massively increases your speed, then you can jump much further and you can jump straight into another wall run and so on, so you'll see experienced players zipping around the maps.

I think the DLC maps are really good. I would get the game and play it for a bit and if you like it, grab the season pass.

So far it's fun. I can't figure out how to jump on someone else's titan though. It takes a while to get any games though. There is a lot of waiting around.

I'm trying to play the campaign but it keeps playing the same level over and over and over so that is quite annoying. I thought you could play it solo.

I was up until 5am EDT this morning playing and not once did I wait for a game other than the usual "intermission" time between matches. Towards the end there we had only three or four people on each team but still, no waiting.

"I can't figure out how to jump on someone else's titan"

You just have to run at them and jump, but you have to do it from the right distance. If you get too close before jumping and the titan changes direction, they can easily step on you and kill you. What I usually do is double jump, or I'll get to higher ground
so I can jump down on top of them. You can even land on enemy titans after ejecting from your own, or land on them by jumping off zip lines on certain maps.

The campaign can be a pain because of players quitting. If you play a level, then a bunch of players from one team leave (usually cos they've just taken a beating), the game will search for new players, but after a short time the search extends to other
levels, including the one you've just played.
