These censors are at least more logical than the bots on Amazon and these just delete the word found objectionable whereas the great and mighty 'zon deletes the whole post leaving the poster to wonder what they said that was offensive. I get to where I'm

As usual, censorship fails in the absence of any clear cut desired outcomes. Amazon is especially frustrating I know. I have taken to using "Notes" (Apple) or "Notepad" (PC) to type comments, then copy and paste it to the desired forum. It also alleviates
the issue here when using "rich formatting" of not being able to see recent comments, or the comment I'm actually responding too.

 

In fairness, if they got rid of all the foul mouthed, vocabulary-challenged morons, who have repeated warnings....Live! would be a ghost town.

This is so funny for me. Years ago I had a forum. Did it for the kids doing a school project.

There is an editable list of words that are considered foul language. It would be changed at a moments notice when a word got passed over or forgotten. One of the moderators was a mother of three. The words she did not want her kids to hear were her guide.
I'm sure that by today's standards there are several new words that have not made the list were others are dropping off. Like George Karlin's Seven Deadly words! Hell hath no fury like that of a woman scorned.

 

You have a point WC, business is business. Perhaps the offenders could be rounded up, placed on a bus and sent to me for fun filled day of etiquette enhancement training, Parris Island style.

I'm not so much worried about the words my girls read or hear, but the bullying that often accompanies them. Between me, their mother and our family/friends they are going to hear the occasional "sailor speak"...

I do see that mothers point you mention tho... repeated use of vulgarity for vulgarities sake is the product of an uneducated mind imho.

I completely agree with your point about vulgarity being used for emphasis being a sign of no imagination and a poor vocabulary.

I have been reading the forums over on TESO and so far I am unimpressed with the community that is building. I hope things will settle down after a couple of months but right now it's not always mature. The Tamriel Foundry forum is growing nicely though.
It's the one thing that really impressed me about LOTRO when I tried it. The forum community was very helpful and very supportive of newbies. Of course that is an old game and still has players who have been there since the beginning but still, I would like
to see a forum which doesn't flame inexperience, especially since ESO is likely to bring in many players with no experience of MMOs at all.

 

As for myself LadyB, I have little to no experience with MMO's. It's taken awhile but the "Guilds" seem to be the way to go for a more focused player group. The normal chat line is full of the less useful adjectives and gold spammers. I've joined the Ebon
Blades guild and they seem to be more rounded in game play, help, and mature gamers. It's going to be a very long game as it tends to overplay Micro-Managing of the more useful things. I have other friends that say they like that while others like myself find
it a bit confusing at times. Progress is slow for me but I have barely touched on all the game has to offer. It slows down in the wee hours of the morning but daily play times are filled with folks that are just plain rude.

 

By micro-managing useful things do you mean crafting? In what way is it overplayed? I thought while in the beta that the managing of mats was going to be a problem even when they stack since inventory is so limited. It would be nice if, within the guild
system, there could be a guild stash where crafting stuff could be stored for the use of all guildmates. Guild rules could then enforce keeping said stash full but it would eliminate having to fill inventory and bank slots with things you can't even use immediately.
I had several recipes but none of the ingredients and a ton of ingredients with no recipes to use them all. I was at a loss to decide what would be the best thing to do in the real game.

 

The Guild does have a store. You can offer up to 30 items for sale to others. Also the Bank, that can be used to hold up to 500 items as long as they are in lots of 100. You have to group them in your own inventory and then re-deposit them into the bank
to save slots. They did give us more slots after launch. 60 to be exact and each upgrade cost progressively more at 10 new slots each. I have 70 personal and 60 free bank slots. Not enough. lol! Progress is very slow with the crafts except for Alchemy. There
are plenty of items to be found but as you already now, it's a race sometimes to get to something. Wherein there comes the rudeness of some that watch you clear some beasties close by something, only to have them run up and grab it while your doing battle.
Grouping is the best way to do anything. The group almost always benefits better for it as the whole 4 person group can gather from the loot. They expect it to be a long time in the making before anyone is proficient in any one given craft. There is no other
storage to keep lesser or higher items until needed.

Then the first tier level, everything is 0 gold for trade or value. I give a lot away to anyone who wants it but I "Destroy" a lot of 0 value items to make room for the valued stuff. So many choices it can get some what confusing at times or just plain frustrating
for me. I want this point for this or that point for that. Know what I mean? I am having a blast though. I've been with a few "Groups" that are just a lot of fun to run with. Most of the Guild members are very nice. We even seem to recognize the different
play styles and joke about it here and there. The "GuildMaster" is moving toward having something of an inner group to get things more productive. Each guild can only have 500 members. The one I'm in has 400+ already. You can be in 5 Guilds. I'm at 3 but tend
to enjoy the one most. One tiny thing that thins the ranks is that you have to use the Bank regularly to gain rank and earn the right to withdraw from it. Not a bad way to eliminate overuse. I already have permissions to withdraw but I haven't found the need
yet.

Heck! I'm still at one character. I did earn my common horse so travel is better. It is a lot of fun playing it.

 

You can get a horse for less than the rather high costs I saw in beta? That's good. I was thinking it would suck to not have the Imperial edition with the cheap horse. I guess you could make your own Lydia for holding good things you only want later. After
all she is sworn to carry your burdens. hehe Is the guild bank, then, open for withdrawal to all guild members in good standing? That seems like it could work to support crafting. There are no residences or guildhalls yet, are there? I liked that part of LOTRO.

Everything I've read so far tells me I should wait to start and hang around in the starter areas for the first 30 days to avoid the crowds. I hate crowds, even virtual ones. I am such an introvert!

Did you notice that they moved my thieves guild post? I wondered where it went and found it in Oblivion. I intended it to compare with Skyrim which we all knew about already so I didn't mention it much. Oh well, it didn't gather much interest anyway.

 

The bank works kind of funny. You have to put a lot in before you can take anything out. The higher value item that is put in the faster you gain access to withdraw.

It shouldn't take a whole thirty days to do all you could from the first level. It doesn't quite work the same way that the beta did. You start from prison but go right to Davons Watch. After a bit you get the quest to go back and help. Then you go back
to do all the really easy stuff. It starts to get hard after level 10 now when you get invited to Cyrodiil. There are some hints of a thieves guild as there are some sneaky underhanded thefts you get to make for extra coin. You can join all the major Guilds
as soon as you want. Mages, Fighters, Undaunted are the three that I know of. I sort of took off on my own and ventured way ahead of myself. I have like 17 quests that are impossible for me to do. Levels way above my pay grade so to speak. The quests are color
coded and numbered. I seriously can't wait for TESO to come to the X-Box. I miss my controller, lol! The horse that I got has no carry capacity. The ones that do are still ridiculously high priced. 47k gold. Mine only cost 17k gold. If you get the Imperial
Edition you'll get the White Horse. I have no idea if it has any capacity. The horses upgrade from 10 slots free to whatever. It's exponential the more you upgrade. My next bank upgrade would get me 10 more slots for 3300 gold, then 68 and 1180 and so forth.
