So a RUDE Microsoft guy told me they don't sell extended warranties anymore!

I bought my Xbox one 4 days ago and I called Microsoft today. And I was asking about a extended warranty and the guy was talking down to me like I was a idiot. And just before he hung up he said didn't the store offer you a warranty and I said yes they
did and he said you probably can go back and get it. So I did I bought the 2 year warranty from Gamestop and Microsoft lost all my respect. All the guy had to do is tell me we don't sell them anymore and you need to buy it from your retailer instead of talking
down to me and I would have been a happy camper.

Its alright, if its only £17 then I'll be happy to pay that. What makes me angry though is how so many companies rip you off and don't mention this to you. They sell extended warranties which is basically a scam, and people buy new products when they refuse
to replace it, I guess knowing your rights help a lot lol

 

How long is your warranty?

I believe even Walmart offers extended warranties on electronics products now. Generally, most of our electronics come from Best Buy and we get the two year extended warranty. I used to think it was a waste of money, but no one makes quality products anymore so you kind of have to buy the waranty.

 

So Microsoft no longer sells extended warranties?

I cant explain why (rules) but that cant be a good thing.

There are definitely extended warranties available (via link The Cthulhu provided. Did you talk to someone from Xbox Support or to the Microsoft Store?

 

Don't lose respect for Microsoft because of one support agent. They're not all like that. Some people are though regardless of where they work. Some people just think they are better than you. These types of people usually have a low self esteem. We all
have come across people like that before.

Also, some people don't really know any better. They think the way they talk to people is acceptable. They just don't know. I would let it go if I were you. Just think, he is working as a phone support person. That is definitely not the type of job I would
want and I would probably be grumpy and or rude too if it was me.

 

Whenever I deal with someone that is rubbing me the wrong way, I just end the conversation and call back. Nine times out of ten the second call goes a LOT better. Some people just really lack people skills, don't want to help you, or just don't know their
job very well. You will find this throughout life, with just about any time you have to deal with a customer relations type situation. I would say that only about 25% of the time I deal with someone with competence and a willingness to help the first time
around.

 

Why would you have not taken the warranty at the time of sale? Why would you phone MS before calling the retailer? It would of saved a lot of time and effort,,,,,,

@King, because I wanted a Microsoft warranty not a Gamestop warranty. And when I bought my 360 2 years ago they were still selling warranties. So I just figured that I could get one from them. But it all worked out in the end I was able to go back to Gamestop
and buy the warranty.

 

Before anyone would be able to offer advice, you should be letting people know where you are in the world because this will change all of the information people give you.

 

They sell extended warranties. You can purchase over the phone or when you go to the submit a repair page there is a purchase extended warranty option. I don't think Microsoft will ever deny warranties for it's products.

 

If it helps anyone, I tried to buy my Extended Service Plan online and for some reason was never able to proceed past the first step. I went to the microsoftstore.com site, used the sales number at the "contact us" page and they were able to get me set
up.
