If I could add my Xbox One as a thing in Smartthings or at least link it with IFTTT, then I could do I whole host of home automation within my games room without buying IR remotes. They are all on the same network and always powered on, possible??

    :)

    Home Automation Commands

    Hello,

It would be great to have more advanced commands that can interact with Home Automation devices such as Samsung SmartThings instead of just basic commands to rewind and launch games or apps on the Xbox One. When can we expect such an update?

    Thanks,

    J

Ok, thanks. Kinect is getting phased out?! As I have continued to research this matter, I have come to have a better understanding. Home Automation (HA) does not have to be integrated into the Xbox itself, its a matter of leveraging Cortana's voice interaction
through a voice command definition file in a background UWP app that (acts a conduit) talks with the WebSmartApp on the SmartThings hub to issue commands to it to control the devices registered on the SmartThings hub as well as receive feedback that Cortana
    can deliver in audio/visual.

I wouldn't imagine that the Xbox One is designed with Smart Home functionality in mind, especially with Kinect being phased out nowadays. Overall, I wouldn't have high hopes of expecting that in a future update anytime soon.

You can suggest it on http://xbox.uservoice.com, and see how much traction that idea gets with the community.

Otherwise, you might be better off leaving those kinds of features to your smartphone. That's what most "Smart Home" product API's and apps are written for anyway.A

Media button functionality is a joke

    Hey there Formula 410,

Which remote are you using with your Xbox One? Is it an Official Xbox remote or a 3rd party one? Also, which app are you using where you're having the problem and what is the problem exactly?

    The more details the better!

so, the request is just to create the requirement in any media apps on the Xbox. I'm not really looking to solve my specific issue, more a platform miss.

That said, I use a harmony . It is using the Xbox one profile. The app that I noticed it on was the amazon app. But I think the new hulu app has issues too.

But again, I am not looking for a solution to my remote. It works fine, and bridges my entertainment center with, hue, Alexa, and smartthings. it is not being replaced.

I am looking for MS to implement UX standards on the apps in the store. Consistency in button mapping should be required for an app to be published. Once that exists, I will simply report any apps for being out of compliance with standards.

    Thanks for the reply.

No. You'll just plug in and continue to play like normal.
Its technically a different device with a different OS. How can it swap XBOX's without needing to reformat?
