    Smart TV with CI+ module

I've read some really outdated posts about this issue, but cannot find anything recent about this topic.

I have a Samsung smartTV and i am using a CI+ module on it. Is there a solution for this and using OneGuide? I would really like to use the full functionalities of my Xbox..

    :)

    No Dolby Digital or DTS

Sorry but no - i have a samsung tv and a Denon Receiver. Connected the tv via optical cable, just like you, although hdmi would work in my case (i wanted the tv to handle all hdmi connections). When attaching the xbox via hdmi to the tv i had the exact same
problem you had - only stereo sound. Solution: connected the xbox to my Receiver via hdmi. The funny thing is: both xbox360 and ps3 had no problem with connection to my tv via hdmi.

Imo the xbox one has been poorly designed. This is not even half as bad as the problem that i cannot use live tv with a smart tv with integrated ci+ module...

    Smart TV with CI+ module

    Hey there Krizz2day!

CI+ modules are not compatible with Xbox One and OneGuide at this moment. Since this is an older thread, be sure to post a new thread if you have an issue you need assistance with in the future! That way the community can provide support tailored specifically
to you! Smart TV with CI+ module :)

live tv with smart tv but without set top box

Really superb planning for a console that is supposed to last for 8 years... People are turning more and more towards smart TVs and ci+ - but hey that has not yet arrived in the States and thus you simply ignore it. Well done xbox one tv team... Not!

    1) Thanks for taking the time to reply - its good to see you guys care

    2) apologies for being a douche - frustration sometimes gets me

    Regarding your questions:

I do remember the Xbox 360 launch. However with Live TV and Xbox One I am doubting that there will be a solution for CI+ users anytime soon.

As you probably well know many users in Europe bought SmartTVs recently - one of the features in most of these TVs is a built-in set-top-box (STB) / receiver for TV programs, given you are using a CI+ module. This allows you to take the smartcard out of
your receiver / STB and put it into a module inside the TV, thus eliminating the need of a separate / additional STB device - yes not everybody does it, but more and more people are doing this.

The problem I see with this:

No SmartTV that I know has an HDMI out that is needed for Xbox One LiveTV. So with this knowledge and also the knowledge that HDMI cables only support one-directional data transfer (although theoretically you _could_ use the bi-directional LAN cables inside
an HDMI cable) - how is this supposed to be solved in the near future?

    Digital TV Tuner in Switzerland

Hm...thats still progress, i will play with this tonight as well. It means that the tuner can still do a free scan and is not necessarily locked to the frequencies of the providers, which is good.

Indeed, a CI module and a normal, non-restricted tuner would be a panacea :)
