Smart Delivery Backwards compatibility

I bought a game on a Series X, and i’m wondering if there’s a way to play said game on an Xbox One, or One X in a different room. I’m only able to download the ‘optimized’ version aka next gen on my Xbox One X. I’ve read articles saying it Smart Delivery titles should also work in reverse but I am not seeing it.

They haven't said exactly how Smart Delivery will work with discs, but if the game supports Smart Delivery you will get the upgraded version. Otherwise, it'll still work with the disc through backwards compatibility.

If a game has Smart Delivery, you will get an Series X version for free, if not, you will be able to play it using Backwards Compatibility.

Yes. Xbox One games will be backwards compatible with the Series S/X. There are also games like Valhalla and Cold War that support Smart Delivery. With Smart Delivery, you can buy the games now on the One and you'll be able to download the Series S/X version
for free.

just a quick one, it is a plain money grab if you think about it as on PC all the games are scalable and only one game is needed. I dont know why xbox and the devs took this route, especially when they are using the same architecture (basic pc components).

It helps if you tell us what game you’re talking about. If it’s baseball, they are sold as two separate versions, and you must purchase the version appropriate for your consult. Alternatively, you may be able to stream the video from your consul to and tablet or phone

If they are selling two different versions, you must purchase either the combo pack, assuming one exists, or you must buy them both. If you don’t like this rule, you should take it up with the publisher of the game who sets them
