Sluggish Interface? Input Commands Buffered and Released All at Once?

My console has recently become a little problematic. Sometimes it will not boot beyond the green load screen; sometimes it does but it takes forever and then performance is sluggish. It feels like a CPU or disk utilization problem, like something is tying up
the console. The interface boots and paints in very slowly and then I have to wait before I can actually interact with it. And then when I do, the console will buffer a couple dozen inputs and then suddenly let them all go. It seems to free up and eventually
starts binding up again. Gaming has become all but impossible. After a 16 hour install, last night, BF:Hardline wouldn't even start, I kept getting a "... took too long to start..." error.

Anybody else out there having similar issues with their console acting temperamental?

I see a lot of posts suggesting a hard reset and a complete power disconnect; none of these steps have helped. I've even gone so far as to reboot my entire network with no benefit. Are there any available tools we can use to gauge the health of the console's
file system? I'm willing to bet I'd see some killer fragmentation. I read a post that suggested plugging the power brick directly into the wall instead of a surge protector so I'm going to try that next (not optimistic).

Just tried installing Fifa, no luck, still had the same sluggish gameplay when playing head to head

I can only suggest this but not sure it will fix your problem. I had sluggish gameplay with Fallout: New Vegas. I decided to install the game to my HDD and that cleared the problem up for me. Not saying it will fix your problem but it was the solution to
mine.

 

Strangely, I found the power cord into the brick was loose and may have been causing some issues, but after running through everything installed on my One Console, everything seems to run just fine except for Battlefield 4 and Battlefield: Hardline. Both
of them throw the "... took too long to start..." error. PLEASE don't tell me I have to go through another overnight installation! >=oP

 

hate to say but the power brick wouldnt cause those issues. the xbox is simply slow and needs to be adjusted through future updates. i have the same issues.

 

Thanks xDirty. It sounds like you feel it is a software related problem, maybe OS. How can I know if it isn't hardware? Do you know if this is something that can and will eventually be patched? All my contacts with MS support seem to be with reps that are
clueless about the issue or they do well at playing dumb.
