Slow starting to move games to external hdd

I bought a new ext hdd and moving all my games onto it. But I notice that starting the moving process is slow now than when I did this last year, it takes a minute or two to start, then it moves to the ext as fast as it normally would.

Thought it was the ext, so exchanged it, still doing it. Does it with the old one too. Is this an update problem or has anyone come across this?

Advice for transferring data from old xbox one to replacement.

Get an external HDD and move everything to it.

You can re-download anything you've already purchased.

Xbox one external storage issue

Hi, I have an issue with external hard drive on Xbox one since the last update (spring update 2017). When I connect the external drive it shows my games and plays it as well as before, but I can't move them to internal HDD, in the game management area there
are no option such as MOVE TO or COPY TO. also I can't move my games from internal HDD to external HDD. What should I do?

 

Hi there, I'm not entirely sure what your issue is?

When I moved all my stuff onto the external hard drive earlier this year it was exactly have you've described, slow to star, but once it gets going it was fine.

I noticed if I selected too many items at once to transfer it wouldn't like it and would freeze up so I just did one game at a time.

 

I had support chat with Xbone support team about external hdd issues such as moving certain content.

Certain content just would not install or move to the external hdd. My external hdd is Lacie Rugged Mini 2TB USB 3.0 (tested fine on both MACs and PCs) before formatting on Xbox One for Games and Apps.

Once a game or app does not install externally it would not move to the external hdd.

My 360 moves games or apps almost always successfully.

This externally hdd moving issues along with certain games and apps not installing on it is causing major headaches. I also already tested with another brand which as tested on both MACs and PCs fine but with Xbox One it is becoming an issue.

I believe it is a combination of digital rights management, account issue, along with Xbone system software.
