Slow Speeds Xbox vs Laptop - Constant Lag Outs

Apologies if this has been asked already, I'll admit I didn't spend a tremendous amount of time looking for it.

I've been having an issue the past week or so, mostly playing ESO. I've been super laggy and constantly losing my connection to the game. Today I moved my Xbox into the living room which is significantly closer to the router just to see if it would help
with no luck. When I run a speed test on the Xbox, I'm getting roughly 20 Mbps both up and down (which I think should be plenty for gaming since it is well above the minimum requirement of 3). When I run a speed test on my laptop I'm getting 80+ Mbps up and
down.

Why is it that in the same room, on the same connection, the Xbox is getting significantly slower speeds? Is the internal Xbox WiFi that crappy? Also, with a 20 up/down on the Xbox, why am I experiencing such severe lag/disconnect issues? I can't go more
than 5-10 minutes without disconnecting.

Thanks for any ideas. This is getting pretty frustrating.

Xbox speed test

Why when I do a speed test on the xbox is it slower then what my laptop reads? Both are hard wired but the speed reading on xbox always results in being a few Mbps slower. I have read issues about latency being high because it goes to the Seattle servers.
Would this be the reason for the slower speed reading?

Slow Speeds, Constant Disconnects

Greetings RangerNation!

Since there is no accurate way to speedtest your Internet connection using your console, instead let's focus on why you're having intermittent disconnections.

Can you try connect your console directly with the modem instead of your router. Power off your modem for a couple of minutes. Turn your modem on and wait for it to connect properly. Connect your console and test your Xbox LIVE connection. Do you still get
disconnected with your console directly connected to your modem?

Can you post up your router's current firmware version.

some more Info might help , 1st thing I would try would be to hook it up wired to make sure if its a wireless problem or not...

Southern California.

It's a combo modem/router from Verizon. Actiontec MI424WR Rev.1

1 Xbox One connected wireless.

Not sure on the UPnP, but I did setup port forwarding today to get the NAT to Open which did not help. Have been playing with moderate for years (both 360 and XB1) without previous issues.

No NAT errors or codes.

ISP is Verison fios.

Unfortunately testing it hard wired is not an option at this point in time. I would have to run cables through the ceiling/walls to make it work with the router's current location, and since I don't own the house/network equipment, that's off the table.

well, that was only my laptop's upload speed because my laptop was old. im not sure how you can find the xbox upload speed and its not only me that keeps lagging out of games and out of party chats and rejoining them, my neighbor is too and its been happening
for about a month or two now, yet we cant find a solution however, we did find that every time it rains, i can play xbox live perfectly fine, but my neighbor would keep lagging out. When the next rainstorm comes, i start lagging out of games and parties and
his connections is perfectly fine. any solutions or remedies?

Hey PrecisionJarl0, I believe the problem is that you might have too many connections on your Internet Service and/or router (Iphones, Laptops, etc.) that will quite possibly slow your connection speed and therefore causing lag in your games. I hope this
little bit of information helps.

if you are running a game close it down xbox slows down download speed when a game is running to reduce lag.
