    Slow load times after Nov. 2020 update on Series S/X


    With Metal Gear Solid 2 & 3 HD on Series S/X, load times have increased dramatically after this update. Example is an initial load-in for MGS2, it went from 25 sec to 30 sec, and all room transitions are much slower. We've tried re-formatting the console, tweaking any settings from the console, disabling Internet, etc. The only logical thing that makes sense is the update. I am looking for a resolution to this. This may expand to other backwards compatible games as well.

    External storage and refunds

    Expansion cards are available for external storage that will work with Series S/X games. Regular external drives would be too slow so in order for them to fix it, you'd be looking at longer load times and downgraded performance.

    Xbox series X and LG C2 problems.

    Xbox are well aware of the problem , they admitted they were looking into it but don't plan to have a fix any time soon. My C2 has no issues with other consoles (ps5 and switch).

    Is your Xbox series x a first edition? The console I had issues with was purchased in Nov 2020.

    When will we be able to play xbox series X/S games from a external drive?

    It would just like to add that Series X|S games are developed to only use faster storage. Not only is this storage totally different to a mechanical hard drive, the way games are loaded is also different. In addition, the Xbox Series X|S hardware can leverage additional resources to load to games from internal SSD or external SSD's even faster, what Microsoft calls its Xbox 'Velocity Architecture'.

    As previously stated, you're never going to be able load your Xbox Series X games from an external hard drive. They're just too slow.
