Slow initial update speeds

Hi,

I'm having a problem with download speeds that has started fairly recently. Everything used to be ok but in the last month when downloading updates I get a ridiculously low initial download speed of around 50-100 kbs, it will then go to a normal speed before
going back to very slow for the last couple of percent.

I am on a wired connection and no other devices are having a problem. My line support 35Mbs and I usually get around this speed. As far as I know there have been no changes to any settings. My detailed network statistics (it's peak time here so a bit slower
than normal are

Download speed 27.89 mbs

Upload speed: 7.13 mis

Packet loss: 0%

MTU: 1480

Latency : 165ms

Yet I still get around 100kbs when I start downloading for about 5 minutes which never used to happen.

Any ideas?

Update Speeds Slow

I bought an xb1 the other day (i know im late to the party) and i spent over 16 hours trying to update rainbow seige, it got to 87% which is so slow a *** snail would win a foot race, but then the update just stopped for no reason. does anyone know whats
going on?

Update Speeds Slow

You could try a hard reset of the console to see if it makes any difference. Hold the power button on the console for 10 seconds or until the power shuts down completely. Unplug the power cord from the back of the console for 5 minutes. Plug the power
cord back in and restart the console. Once it is back up and operational test for results. Good Luck!

Sorry to hear about your download speeds. Have you tried resetting your network since this started? Unplug all network hardware for about a minute and then reconnect. If you're still experiencing slow downloads, let us know.

This is perfectly normal normal behaviour for the updates. The complete update will have actually been downloaded by about the 70-80% mark and it will then slow down during the last 20-30% as the console unpacks and applies the update.

Unfortunately the way the update screen is set up it does not show this.

Different games have many different download sizes, varying from a few gigabytes to hundreds. The 2k21 demo is roughly 30 gigabytes compared to the ever-expanding size of the Fortnite download with new updates. Also, download speed is strongly determined
by how well your internet performs. A slow internet can cause downloading speed to be slow but a quick, high performance internet can knock it out in a short time. Depending on what internet provider you have, most of the well known providers have websites
for you to check your download speed. Hope this helped, have a wonderful day!
