Slow Download

I recently bought an xbox one, the halo 5 bundle and have been attempting to download the game (about 54 Gb). I bought it friday afternoon and haven't turned it off since... It is now at 37% on saturday night... OVER 36 HOURS LATER IT'S AT 37%!!!

I considered it might be my internet speed. So I upgraded to 30 Mbps download speeds. Still nothing. My computer runs fast. I can run internet on my xbox fast. But the download won't go.

And before you say "It's because you're using the internet while it's downloading" know that I only did that as a test. I have been gone most of the day, I set the settings so the xbox wouldn't turn off. My xbox and it's power source are on top of a fan
to prevent overheating. And even when I am home, I have my phone set to use data rather than wifi. So for almost 36 hours my xbox has been the sole user of my 30 mbps wifi.

I don't know if it changes anything but I have Xbox Live Gold...

SLOW DOWNLOADS

Just bought Mass Effect Game on Demand through XBOX Live. The download is incredibly slow, maybe 1% every few minutes. I know the download is close to 7 gigs, but I downloaded a 2 gig demo just two days ago in a bout 5-10 minutes. I have a cable internet
connection (8.5Mbps) and the xbox is wired directly to the router. I just watched a netflix movie on the xbox without any problems (as expected the game download paused), so I know the internet connection is fine.

In terms of trouble shooting, I've canceled and restarted the download. I've also cleared out the memory on my console and cleared the system cache, restarted the console and restarted the download. Still no improvement.

Is the slow download related to XBOX Live service disruption?

Are you using WiFi connection or wired connection to connect to Xbox Live?

Basically your download speed depends on your internet download speed.

It your internet is not a High Speed Internet service, it may take some time to finish your download. If you have a High Speed Internet, try using wired connection.

 

I just did a network check... Even though I'm getting 30 mbps download speeds, my Xbox is downloading at .05Mbps....

 

Have you tried to carry out a hard restart on the console by going to the Settings app selecting Power & Startup and then use the Restart option there to see if the download speed improves afterwards?

If this does not help can you please post if you connect the console to the internet using a wired or wireless connection plus if wireless what wireless strength does the console say it has.

 

It did not work. I am using wireless. It currently has full strength. Might I also add that the load is now at 42%

 

If you have not already done this I would then also suggest restarting your wireless router/modem to see what happens.

Next I would suggest if possible running a wired connection to the console to see what happens.

Finally don't forget to check the Terms & Conditions of your ISP just in case they have a clause that allows them to throttle parts of you internet speed.

Hopefully you can get this resolved quickly.

 

Restarting didn't work, I don't have a cable to connect it. And like I said, every other device works at 100% speed. So my internet speed isn't the problem I assure you.

 

This has occasionally happened to me, I found that pausing the installation for a few minutes then restarting helped me. Just an idea. When you done your network check did it show any packet loss?

 

I just tried pausing for an hour, and it's still bad. Before I unpaused it I tried to use the internet (on my xbox) and it was just as bad. Meaning that even if I do complete this download, online play will be laughable.

Multiple tests over the course of yesterday showed packet losses as low as 20 to as high as 70, yet it has 100% strength.

I think I'm just going to return it and try to get a regular xbox one.

It's nice to know that I'll end up losing a couple HUNDRED DOLLARS for a console that didn't work though.

 

What is it showing as your NAT setting? Anything other than open is going to slow you down and even then I would still forward ports this should help with packet loss at least but should speed things up

Other tips is when requested to download update choose to do it later, also set the Xbox to instant on mode it should download then even with the Xbox off
