Slow download speeds on Xbox One X

I'm on 120Mbit cable. Most downloads I get an actual throughput of about 15-16MB/sec.

I have a PC and my XB1X on the same LAN at home here.

I did a speed test and it showed around 70 Mbit on the Xbox One X.

I did a speedtest on my PC and it showed 120 Mbit.

It really makes downloading large games a real pain.

Why is the Xbox One X so slow on networking speeds?!?

1: YES it was the only device using the network when I did the test.

2: YES it has the latest updates

3: YES I've run the test multiple times to make sure it wasn't a fluke.

4: YES I know network speeds vary according to how much usage is occurring. I always get 120Mbit for my PC, 70Mbit for the XB1X.

Ideas?

A main factor in the speed along with slower internet speeds is the size of the update.

Xbox One X - Slower Download Speeds

Afternoon, I am having an issue with the downloads speeds on my Xbox One X console. I am hard wired into a 1gb fibre line (Cat6) on my Desktop and my console. When I do speedtest.net speed tests on my desktop I am getting around 940mb download / upload.

When I do the detailed Network Statistics on my console my download will never go above 250mb but my upload is always around the 900mb mark. When I download games they never hit more than 20mb/sec.

Just wondered if anyone knew why this would be happening ? The speed of the servers clearly isn't the problem because of the high upload speed !

I take it you're WiFi on both your PC and XB1X and you used a diagnostic speed test site. Biggest problem is with majority of these tools, is the fact they are server side and test speeds to your gateway/router/modem and not your home WiFi network. Theoretical
speeds are exactly that, actual WiFi speeds tend to be lower. The reality is, you could be getting 120mbps into your home but WiFi is putting out 60mps.

 

I did a test on my home network a while back, I am also on a 120mbs connection and my supplier is Virgin.

Hardwired to the router I got the full 120mbs, through Wi-Fi however it was just 60mbs. And through the Wi-Fi extender in the back room it was just 30mbs.

Put this problem to Virgin and they upgraded my router to the new version they now install and I now get the full 120mbs through my Wi-Fi.

But I always have my Xbox One and Xbox 360 hardwired to the router anyway.

 

download speeds on Xbox one are currently pretty poor for most of us. I’m on 400mb and get 60mb most of the time.

 

Hehe.. no... I don't use Wifi for anything except my phone. Wifi is for amateurs

I'm on 120Mbit cable, PC and XB1X are on same LAN - same cablemodem/router. Cat6/Cat7 cable going to them.

Every time I do a speed test I get the full 120Mbit for my PC, and only 60Mbit for my XB1X.

 

I'm getting slow download speeds too on my X, I should be getting around 100mb but it averages out at about 20-30mb max!! (and even lower sometimes), upload is 6-7mb which is what I expect.

Using Virgin superhub 3, hard wired Cat 6, DMZ'd, open NAT and all other consoles/devices are showing correct speeds.

I've tried other ethernet cables, a Cat 5 cable and done reboots/restarts on everything but it isn't solving the issue.

 

Update:

I think I've managed to solve it?? (well for me anyway)

Basically I did a system reset (kept games & Apps) but this time before I did a new set up I unplugged my external HDD that has my settings backed up on from my S.

Did a totally new set up, changed the IP address to the DMZ'd one, it came up strict NAT at first so I rebooted the console then it went to 'open'.

My speeds are now 80-109 down and 6 up which is about what I usually get on PS4, so I'm happy.

Will have a look again later after work to see if all is well still and report back.

 

I am having a serious problem with download speeds.

I have a 1 gig connection and for some weird reason I was getting 10 mbs download speed over the weekend and over 900 mbs upload speeds this is on a wired connection direct to the fiber box provided by my internet company.

I did a full reset of the console and everything and today I was getting around 250 down and 350 up, I have no idea why this is, When I do a speed test on the app provided by the internet company its showing around 900 down and up and I am getting similar
speeds when I do a test on my laptop so the issue is with the X1X. I can't explain why I am getting a higher upload speed.

Anyone got any ideas whats going on or how the hell, I would go about fixing it. Thanks
