Slow Download Speeds New Xbox One S

I just got an Xbox One S and I have it connected hardware to my LAN via ethernet cable. All my other devices get great download speeds but not my new Xbox. I get wireless download speeds of 120Mbps and my wired Xbox is only getting 10-15Mbps. A 45GB game
has taken more than a day to download. I have the latest software installed. I've rebooted more than once. What's next?

Downloading digital games

Your download speed is also highly dependant on what speed you get from your ISP. How can MS improve download speeds, if your connections are slow. Do you even know what your speeds are?

I'm on 120Mb/s down 10Mb/s up. No slow downloads here. As for an HD iTunes movie, they are typically around 3GB, a typical Xbox One game is between 10 and 50GB.

Download speed doesn't match speed test result

I ran a speed test on my xbox one and got a download speed of 168 Mb/s (which is close to my subscription). I am trying to download Gears 4 and the actual download speed is hovering between 50 and 60 Mb/s. I have restarted the console, and tried canceling and re-starting the download, but that has not improved the actual download speed. If I should be getting 168 Mb/s, why is the actual download stuck at 50-60?

Sorry to hear about the connection troubles. To start things off, what type of network hardware are you connecting to? If you haven't tried already, be sure to give a different Ethernet cable a try. Also, check out this

I have tried connecting to my network in 2 ways:

1. Wired: Plugged directly into a switch port on my EA6100 router that is in Bridge mode acting as an access point for my main router. It is physically connected via ethernet cable to my main router. Download speeds vary from 10 to 25 Mbps but are mostly
in the 10-15 range.

2. Wireless: Tried unplugging the Xbox and connecting to the EA6100 through wifi. The EA6100 is literally 2 feet away. I get download speeds of 5-10Mbps but mostly around 5. Note that I can check my wireless speeds from my iPhone connected to the EA6100
and I get download speeds of 80 Mbps!

I looked at the document you referenced and it just tells you what your speeds need to be to support different functions. And the numbers they show are in MBps (megabytes) - not Mbps (megabits) as the Xbox speed test reports.

I used to own an Xbox 360 a while back and my speeds were just fine. Not sure what's up with the Xbox One S.

Thanks for the update on that!

At the bottom of that troubleshooter there's an option to select that says if your speeds meet the requirements. If you continue through there are quite a few steps including setting your console in DMZ mode and testing a direct modem connection. Were you able
to get through those?

I've gone through many steps. New ethernet cables. Power cycling all my network gear. Manually set DNS servers to 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4. NAT connection says Open. Network tests say no problems. Downloads still say 5-10Mbps. My Mac wired gets 110-120Mbps.
All my wifi devices get great speeds too. Not sure why I'd need to do port forwarding if NAT type says Open. I should be getting way better speeds than this.

Hey there Adahighlander.

It's a step that sounds generic, but it can often times help with speed issues such as this. Give your Xbox One a full power cycle by holding down the power button for 8-10 seconds until it powers off, then try reconnecting to your network. This has often cleared
up the issue for people. Let us know how it goes

the download speeds have been atrocious over the christmas period this is in part because lots of people either bought a new xbox and lots of people bought lots of games and therefore the servers are getting battered.

Hello dear Xbox support

I have a problem on my Xbox one S, the problem is slow internet speed, its between 200kB/s and 80kB/s, and the problem start before 10 days ago.

I tried to solve this problem by :

1- restarting Xbox and still download slow.

2- restarting my router but still the same problem.

3- unplug the wired cable and plug it again, but still the same problem.

4- connecting my Xbox to wifi connection, same problem.

5- testing my internet speed on my laptop by using the same cable (wired connection) and the speed is like usual 1.5 mB/s, and upload is 220 kB/s.

6- change wifi password and disconnect all devices from connecting to my internet, still the same slow damn download speed.

7- trying to test my internet speed on Xbox and my internet speed was : 9.19 mbps, and that's my natural internet speed, so the problem not from my internet provider.

8- trying to re-download the games that I want to download and updates, still the same **** download speed.

9- trying downloading new games, same slow download speed.

10- testing some DNS's, nothing new, same slow download speed.

11- resetting my xbox one S (not full reset) and trying to download games and updates, same problem.

I tried anything you can imagine, any new ideas guys ?
Now i just bought red dead redemption, imagine how time I need to download 101GB with 80kB/s speed!

There's one think I can tell is Xbox limited download speed from their servers, and I'm from morocco.

I hope I can solve this problem. and By the way yesterday I want to download microsoft edge for testing, and the download speed was the same as on my Xbox xD, 80kB/s. and I'm downloading and watching movies with 1.2mB/s

Are you connected through landline, or through a celllular service?

Since Marocco is not among the countries/regions where the Live service is supported, so how do you connect your console to Xbox Live? Through a VPN service?

cleared*. Is it the USB drive that's failing or maybe my download speed. My download speed on my computer is 21 mb/s but does that translate over to my xbox? Cause the download is going fairly slow.
