Slow download speed with Xbox 360 Slim

This issue is something I have been trying to resolve for a while now. I have noticed that my download speeds are really slow up to the point that some large games take all night to download. I first thought it was something with my router but I changed
the router a while ago and it has still happened. I also contacted my ISP about this issue and they couldn't find what was causing the problem and they said it had something to do with the xbox console itself. When I ran a speed test, it said my download/upload
speed was 6mbps up & 5mbps down. This is odd because my other wireless devices such as my iphone and ps4 don't have this issue and both have download/up speed of 30mbps down and 8mbps up. I tried also clearing the cache and it hasn't helped. I'm not sure what
to do and the speed was really fast in the past so I'm completely stumped as to why it is so slow. Any Ideas?

Hi,

Since i bought my Xbox 360 Slim 3 years ago the download speed for purchased games it is really slow, it takes hours to dowload full games and updates.

First i thought that there was a download speed limit, but I read that a lot of people use their full download bandwidth.

When I run speedtest from my PC with wireless connection I get up to 50mbit/s .

I've tried both wireless and cable connection.

 

Slow connection speeds when I test my network connection

My xbox 360 network connection test shows my connection running at download speeds of 5.5mbps. I am connected thru WiFi and every other device I have connected to the same wifi network runs at at least 40mbps and my connection speeds i pay for its 100mbps.
Any suggestions as to why my xbox runs at such slow connection speeds would be much appreciated. I have a slim model. Thanks

Thanks for posting that information.

Could there be anything blocking the wireless signal from your router/modem to your Xbox 360 console?

This could be, wireless headsets, other wireless networks, microwaves etc.

 

There is nothing I can think of that could be blocking the signal as the ps4 and ps3 I have are in the same spot and have a much faster download speed from where they are.

Thanks for confirming that.

Could you try changing the Wireless Channel for your router/modem? Unfortunately I was unable to find more information about your router/modem, so I was not able to create a complete guide for you. But, you should see something like a
Wireless tab which has a Channel option. Change the
Channel to something like 8 or 11.

Please let us know how that goes =)

 

Apologize again for late reply, but I tried changing the wireless channel with no noticeable effect. Another thing I did was manually set the settings for the network using googles DNS, but both of these haven't made a noticeable difference at all. Any Ideas?

So I bought a wireless adapter dual band and I connected the xbox to my 5Ghz network on the router, and it seems to have made the download speed faster. It is now 8 Mbps up and 16 Mbps Down.
