Slow download speed only on Xbox 360

If your download speeds are always low and other devices you use are slow too then you might want to contact your internet provider. If it is only the xbox, it may be because there is a larger amount of users logging on due to recent events in the world.
I remember when I would download at night my speeds would drop a little bit. Now sometimes I can download at a couple hundred kbps. Only the xbox's download speed would be slow and only at night.

It does matter how fast your internet connection is.

Title updates for the xbox one are massive compared to what they are for the xbox 360.

Part of the installation time is the time it takes to download the updates. If you have a slow connection or if you are on a congested wifi channel your installation will take ages.

It is now quite common for game updates to be hundreds of megabytes in size. On a slow connection this will cause downloads to take hours. Average update for 360 is less than 6MB. On xbox one they often over 600MB. I think BF4 was over 900MB when I last
updated it.

That's why I asked for your download speed. If your download speed is slow then that will be the reason. If your download speed is fast then there will be some other problem.

Thanks for the update, but I disagree on where the problem lies. The problem is with the Xbox 360, not with my FiOS router. Using the Netgear Wireless Adapter proves my point. The Netgear vindicates the router.

Also, as I mentioned earlier, my phone's hotspot won't work since I'm trying to stream videos located on my local NAS. The Xbox won't have access to the videos on the NAS through the phone's hotspot.

As I have stated, I am not looking for the streaming ability, but your Xbox 360 download speed. Connecting to a phone hotspot will help determine if your speeds increase.

Using the Netgear adapter shows that the console will connect up via a 5GHz connection, something that the 360 S does not connect to; the 360 S uses a 2.4GHz wireless connection when using wifi. This does not prove the issue doesn't lie with the gateway,
it simply gives more information to the engineer on what to look for. We cannot fully determine on where the issue is until we have the device on hand to test with. Additionally, the fact that the gateway took an update when this started happening indicates
an issue with the configuration with the gateway and the NIC we use in our consoles. This is not the first time we have seen this happen, and we are working to do the same steps we have done in the past to resolve these issues. Using the hotspot will also
show more information on the download speeds on wireless; if they improve as well, this will show the issue indeed lies with the configuration of the gateway and how it communicates with our hardware. It will show speeds on a 2.4GHz connection that isn't a
5GHz adapter or your network's current wireless connection.

I understand where you can see the issue lies solely with the Xbox 360. Unfortunately, until we get the devices we need, we cannot state that it is with the console. The console works well on any other router/gateway device with
other companies; if the issue lied with the console, we would have a much larger influx of complaints about this. I hope that helps explain why we are confident it lies with the device you have.

Ok, I'll try my phone's hotspot and will let you know the results.

The Netgear Wireless adapter is NOT a 5GHz product. You can see this in its datasheet here: http://www.downloads.netgear.com/files/GDC/WNCE2001/WNCE2001_DS_12Oct11.pdf

Not only is it NOT a 5GHz product, if it was I would have had to configure it to connect to my 5GHz WiFi network, something I did not do.

Based on you having an S console, it sounds like there might be an issue with the wireless frequencies, and the adapter is alleviating that symptom.

We are confident this issue lies with the FiOS device you have, but cannot fix it until we work with the right people more.

Using a hotspot would be beneficial, since you are solely using the cellular network when broadcasting a hotspot. That will help get the most information to the engineer that I am working with. Let me know if you're able to try that!

Following up, I realized that I haven't asked you if you could try your 360 on a different network. You can either move it to a house that doesn't have FiOS, or try connecting to a hotspot from your phone. The engineer I am working with was curious about
that.

He's also curious to know if you have an E or S 360 console. He's wondering if it's because those have a 2.4GHz network connection only that's causing issues with the wireless.
