    Slow download speed on xbox for years


    I don't think I need to introduce this topic to anyone by this point.

    Got an update for a game at around 40gb, standard stuff.

    But for that update to take 7 hours with a download speed of 70kbps is just absurd.

    Downloaded a new game on steam around the same size at 300mbps in about 25 minutes.

    And before I get the usual; "Have you followed our suggested troubleshooting steps?"

    YES! And it's not doing ****! Unplug this, unplug that, disconnect devices, but what for?

    Paying for good internet speeds and xbox is not delivering.

    Is there actually a reason or a fix for this, would like to know. Thanks

    slow downloads

    It could be number of reasons like there is to many people on your router slowing up your download speed you could have a router that has lots of lag on xbox live, etc

    you can try to pause and wait and play again

    also you can have so many people on xbox live server (like on new years) that can slow down your speed

    Thank you for bringing this issue to our attention. Are you connecting the console to the network through an ethernet cable or WiFi? The ethernet cord will give a better download speed. There are different categories of ethernet cords that allocate different
    speeds. An example is the CAT6 which allows a Gigabit of download speed. We recommend making sure there are no applications, games or other downloads that are active as this can slow down the overall download speed. The article entitled

    Your download speed is also highly dependant on what speed you get from your ISP. How can MS improve download speeds, if your connections are slow. Do you even know what your speeds are?

    I'm on 120Mb/s down 10Mb/s up. No slow downloads here. As for an HD iTunes movie, they are typically around 3GB, a typical Xbox One game is between 10 and 50GB.
