Slow Download Despite Internet Service

I was attempting to download Battlefield 4 onto my Xbox One, a game of roughly 38 GB. About a week before I had downloaded DC Universe Online, a game of about 34 GB in as little as 4 hours. The problem being that at the rate my Battlefield install is going
(in addition to everything else I now try to download) the download will take 50+ hours to download. I had done a test to see if it was due to my internet connection and I was reported to have 14+ mbps for download speed and similar for upload speed, however
my one is reporting <2 mbps download speed with 88% packet loss.

To try and speed up my One's download speed earlier on, before I noticed this issue, I attempted to use an Ethernet cable, believing it would prove faster. However, I became disconnected and the cable became stuck in the console, so while removing it the
power cable slipped out.

In addition to the slow download speed I am now finding my One to be nearly unresponsive to other tasks, such as delayed sign in times (often it fails to sign me in at all, while downloading the game as well), being unable to appear offline (I get a message
of "something went wrong"), being unable to access the store, and choppy party communication with random disconnects. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Download speed is half or less of internet speed.

Why is my download on my Xbox slow compared to my Internet service anytime. It's half of my internet service. If I start a new download it goes from 20 to 2 Mbps then just downloads at 5 or less. But when I test my internet it's at 10 mbps.

I'm also now seeing that something which should be relatively instant is now taking significantly much longer than it should, that being syncing for games such as Fallout 4.

 

Sorry to hear it. Can you please hold the power button on the console for 10 seconds until it shuts down then unplug everything and let it sit for 5 minutes. During this time power cycle your modem/router by unplugging for 10 seconds.

Hopefully this will resolve your issue.

 

It depends on what troubleshooting steps you have done already. doing the hard reset which onyx62is is one. Another is Restore to Factory default (you can choose to keep the saves and apps installed) but this will delete the profiles and save games that
is stored locally in the console. If you have done much of the steps related to our issue, the console may need to be repaired/replaced.

 

Unfortunately I am unable to disconnect the router as I am currently in a resident housing at my college, the modem being right above my head with no way to disconnect or reset. I know that college wifi is usually known to be terrible but for the past two
semesters it has been incredibly reliable, up until this past Friday. And if anything with finals being done and people heading home for the summer you'd expect it to be faster.

After the hard reset the network still shows only about 1 mbps of download speed. I'm hoping its just the school wifi being as unreliable as everyone expects it to be. And I'd really prefer not to do a factory reset. Thank you for the help Onyx.

 

Thanks for posting that info. If you are experiencing slow speeds as part of the dorm internet service then it would be an issue for the service techs at your end. Please contact the internet providers at your college to see if they can help with the issue.
