Slow download and streaming on Xbox 360 over wireless

Hi, I have been struggling with this for some years now but since I got twins 6 years back, my past 3 years raising them was kind of far away from the console but every time i turned it on for netflix use or similar, i noticed a very slow speed ans is barely
usable. Now that they are growing more and more, i started downloading some games and times are disastrous. This happened with my previous tp-link 1043ND both with stock firmware and later with gargoyle, always bridged on ISP modem. Now I have an EERO and
    still face the same issue.

Noticed this article on your forums that describes mostly the same and times when issue appear is more or less the same

    https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us...w/2afa9fdc-c6cd-46c1-9226-f1f80ce4b1e3?page=3

Only difference is that I'm in Argentina and not USA so when I trace to tracert.xboxlive.com timeouts start on hop 21 and from hop 10 to 11th, ping goes from 40ms to 226ms inside msn.net domain both.

still, I don't believe that's the issue since upload and download stats are also similar to the one on the mentioned article having a 50mb link and other devices streaming from netflix like champs (ie: 3 chromecasts), plus I'm a heavy o365 user on a big
company that uses all day long MS Teams for video calls, with screen sharing + outlook, sharepoints, etc and no issues at all.

I'm more inclined to believe the theory about something on the compatibility between XBOX 360 S and the EERO that causes to have issues on the 2.4ghz connection.

I also had an extensive call with Microsoft Argentina time ago and performed all the tests plus roll back of latest updates, reset of HDD cache, reset of network connections, etc with no luck and ticket was closed without resolution.

last but not least, yesterday I started the download of 2 titles, around 7Gb each. I let it stay all afternoon and overnight and today morning, after several aborts and retries, it was still on the first one and around 30%. tired of the situation, connected
the network cable and downloaded both titles on around 30 mins.

Having said that, ISP shouldn't be the problem, nor the EERO at least on ethernet and seems issue is on the wireless adapter for XBOX360S as I have another 15 devices connected on the EERO working like a charm.

Any idea on how to remediate the adapter issue or how to provide evidence logs so we can get a fix on this?

    :)

Sorry for my late response. I presume this tests should be run from my netework but not necesarrily from XBOX itself, right? let me know if you need those from IE on XBOX instead as these were run on my PC over wireless on the same network.

I still believe the issue is with the relationship between XBOX and Wireless router but not specifically EERO since this also happened on TP-Link with 2 flavors of firmware and also have seen this complaint several times searching on the web plus my EERO
is not having any issues with any other system. I forgot to mention I had a shortcut on the plug of the EERO half year ago and replaced the unit with a new one so all my navigation history wold have started from scratch and any QoS wold have been reset too
on that change and improved XBOX experience that was well used by then but is not the case. Furhtermore, from my 3 chromecasts, I only use 2 heavily and one sporadically and that one should present similar issues if it was related to QoS due to low utilization
but works perfectly every time i turn it on. Also, if it would be a QoS issue or related to connection between EERO and modem, changing to wired the XBOX will not do any difference but I just plugged the cable and downloaded 2 games in 15 minutes each aprox
so it clearly an issue on the wireless connection between XBOX and EERO.

Last but not least, not sure where are you located but if we fix this, I'll do my best to get you some alfajores for you! For sure you are referring to Havanna ones ;-)

And I apologize also. I have been spending a lot of time working network connections for Xbox and until recently have been totally lost on where to go next. And my bad on not letting you know.

I do believe you are on to something. While the network associated with Xbox and Xbox Live has been spotty for you, the wired or wireless should have been the same if that was the problem.
I guess the same. if issue is on wither the ISP, modem or router, issue should replicate either on wired or wilress but seems like it only over wireless while plugging the cable solves it. I have done several tests today that I'll share with you as comments
on each of the steps suggested so we keep organized.

I was going to direct you to start working on a possible NAT issue. There could still be a problem there as the EERO is in the loop for that, though it is not the DNS.
If it was a NAT issue, same should occur both on wired or wireless but is not the case. Same for the DNS but I can try hardcoding Cisco Umbrella DNS on the router or google DNS if needed to discard that. not tried it yet.

Before I forget, the Network tester in System Settings gives us a good idea especially with ping times or delay. I am curious if that changes between wired and wireless. I bet it does but am not sure what to do with it yet.

As far as the best way to test the network, go to https://www.bandwidthplace.com/perform-an-xbox-one-internet-speed-test-article/ which
    points to https://www.bandwidthplace.com/

I run the test from the Edge Browser on Xbox. Again I expect differences. Knowing these numbers will tell us if the problem is bandwidth availability or if the problem is timeouts
Went into some tests with Network Tester plus the BWplace site you mentioned and tested it over cable and wired. All tests confirm a good performance on wired and not wireless while at the same time, tracerts to xbox live service are more or less the same
either on cable and wireless. As you may understand, nothing changes on network topology from router to reach xbox live service but only change is how XBOX connects to router. Same DNSes, same Public IP, same paths, same NAT, which supports the theory that
problem could be related to wireless network adapter (i tend to believe is software and not HW related and got messed up on some update as it worked fine long long time ago)

Here you can see screenshots of every test.

I went to EERO support https://support.eero.com/hc/en-us and halfway down the page tried the find answer box and ultimately was directed to write a ticket. There was nothing
overly obvious. In your shoes, I would try https://support.eero.com/hc/en-us/articles/207908443-How-do-I-configure-port-forwarding- as
it looks like the EERO does play in the middle of DNS and IP direction/port forwarding.

Here is the setup for port forwarding https://www.windowscentral.com/xbox-one-port-forwarding I tried the referred method and it worked (I also tried again
with success using the MAC). I also got UPnP to work by increasing the timeout to 10 (from 4, this should not be a problem unless new devices are coming in and out). Since I don't have the EERO system, I can't walk you through the app.
I saw your other entry about what EERO asked and will go over that one after this one. Before publishing this question, I went through port forwarding myself to discard any issues. Keep in mind I have an XBOX 360s and not a XBOX One so menues are a bit different
from your link but more or less I did the same and opened also a few more ports based on EERO article https://support.eero.com/hc/en-us/a...t-let-me-join-online-games-How-do-I-fix-this-

So I did that already, still, my test shows as being on moderate NAT and troubleshooter says the problem is on port 3074 which I confirmed is correctly setup.

Still that issue arises both wired and wireless but still, download speed is only affected on wired so that shouldn't be the culprit, otherwise, under same error, both connection methods should be affected. So I would leave that investigation for later after
correcting the download speed issue as it works fine over wired even with that port issue.

Here you can see screenshots from EERO app Port forwarding setup (in case you notice any port missing)

And here you will see the troubleshooter mentioning the 3074 port issue (I'm not duplicating this since it happens both wired and wireless)

I also did follow up the troubleshooter on www.xbox.com/nat-help without success.

I do miss Argentina, wondering how life has changed with the new leadership after I left. It wrapped up with a funny note with my boss telling the MOD that "A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush." I almost spit my tea all over the conference table.
Idioms do not translate well, especially that one!

So I am going to post to some of my other sites about EERO and Xbox. Stay in touch. I look forward to the additional data. Take care.
Jajajaja. You always get stuff lost in translation but from time to time, is not what you loose but what you win when some attempts to translate become so funny.

How long have you left Argentina? Changes started to become radical as soon as the new president started but is always like that here. every time a president changes, we turn around 180° :-(

PS: does microsoft have servers in Latam for XBOX live? is there any chance that for some odd reason I'm reaching servers outside my region? either because of some setting on my hotmail profile or preferences? not sure how that can play a role in this issue
but just wanted to have a better picture.

I am sorry you are having such serious problems with the connection. I have two questions that will help me research further. One is can you give me what the Xbox 360 network test shows, all of it, please? I don't understand why you would be required to
source to the US as there are servers in Buenos Aires for sure. The second is to run https://beta.support.xbox.com/xbox-live-status

and https://outage.report/xbox-live from your location and provide the status.

I believe, like you, the problem lies with the EERO system and its relationship with your ISP modem/router. In fact, that you "have another 15 devices connected on the EERO working like a charm" would lead me to believe
the EERO system is shortchanging your Xbox360 through Quality of Service settings, especially since it is likely the 360 is less used and then sporadically.

I have read through https://support.eero.com/hc/ and unfortunately did not see much insight to the core settings and I do not know your ISP modem/router. You seem very adept
at the technical side so let's pursue this with the continued help from suppliers and the Amassadors.

Oh, and while resets are going on, please enjoy a couple alfajores for me. I love the ones I used to get from Mar del Plata.
