    Slow dashboard and missing data on HDD


    Hi,

    Before I go into the details of my issues, I have lurked around similar threads, but I'm not getting any fixes that work to my problem.

    First off, I have booted up my X-Box 360 250GB Slim for the first time in a year. I have not touched the console since finishing BioShock Infinite last March, and started it up to play Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII.

    At first the console would not download the system update, so I had to install it via a USB drive as I had seen others on here be instructed to do.

    After that then, on start up, it can take anywhere from 1 to 3 minutes to get to my dashboard, and connecting to live reaps Error Codes saying that X-Box Live content is unavailable. While my profile is signed in, I try to connect to Live again, and while it's
    connected now, 9 times out of 10, I get errors.

    Following instructions on similar threads, I have cleared my cache numerous times, take out and re-inserted the HDD, deleted and redownloaded my profile, restored network settings to factory and enabled UPnP on my router.

    Even now, I'm trying to browse DLC content via the 360 and the grey screen with a swirling icon takes so long that I almost expect an error code to show up.

    Next issue is that I have noticed nearly all of my save data, demo downloads and disc installs are gone from my HDD.

    This extends to avatar items, themes, gamer pictures and DLC, luckily I can retrieve most if not all of it back from my download history, but the fact it's missing in the first place is insane.

    Any advice that can be provided at this stage will be appreciated.

    xbox harddrive for elite

    Can try to remove the hard drive and put it back on the console then power on and see if it works correctly.

    If the hard drive still come up format then, it should be replaced.

    Was the console having any other problems?

    Slow loading dashboard, errors or missing Demo's Arcade games saves data?

    Clearing System Cache, does it help with performance problems?

    Why wouldn't it be the HDD..?? The OP has stated, that the console is slow to start up & dashboard is slow..

    The console is not connected to XBOX Live! or any ISP connection, in the system Boot State...

    As I have mentioned.. The Dashboard is stored & embedded on the HDD now & isn't embedded into the systems cache etc [Dashboard is too big for onboard caching]...

    Its not a case of the HDD being slow, or the process being slow etc etc. The problem is a persons interent (I know it sounds weird) but our dashboard is stored in the "cloud" doing it this way allows you to go to someone elses Xbox One and say "Xbox show
    my stuff" and it will download your dashboard.

    More than likely its Microsoft's network taking a bit of a hammering, only last night I noticed my pins werent loading in properly (some games were missing)

    Hello,

    it's possible that you may have a problem with your HDD. If it's a problem with an external HDD, it's possible it's too slow.

    Try hard reset, clearing all data. Then install some game again and try again. If the problem persists, there is certainly a problem in the HDD.

    Breaking the Fourth Wall.

    Yeah, Blu-ray is very good for the fact that it allows 50 GB (maximum space) but if Xbox 360 was limited to only play with the disc and not the game installed on the HDD you'd be in a nightmare of awfully slow loadings.

    I'm disappointed Sony never offered this feature (install game data on HDD) for all games since BD's too slow.
