    as it says, the fan runs on the power supply but no light at all and no power to the console. the fan ran for a long time, probably overnight...

    How can I purchase a new power supply for XBox 360?

    My power supply "brick" has apparently gone bad. When I turn on the console, the brick starts to get hot, the red light comes on and then turns the console off. I do not want to purchase some generic power supply that probably will not last very long.
    I would rather purchase a genuine Microsoft XBox power supply (the newer slim power brick). Any ideas where I would go to do that? Thanks!

    As far as I'm aware, Slim and Phat consoles' power supplies do not have fans in them. Counterfeit power supplies on the other hand, do. I would purchase a real Xbox power supply. If there's no light on the power supply, then it's pooched anyway. Make sure
    all the cables are plugged in snug. Follow the troubleshooter on the Xbox support website. If all else fails:

    myservice.xbox.com/.../Welcome.aspx

    Go here, register your console, and ask for a new power supply.

    What I'm saying is, a real Microsoft Xbox 360 Slim Power Supply (PSU) doesn't have a fan. If yours does, then it's counterfeit. It's a fake. Using fake PSUs are not only dangerous (Fire hazard), but they could very well fry your console and make it unusable.
    Follow my instructions and get a real PSU directly from Microsoft.

    MY xbox power supply shows a green light when it is plugged in the wall only (not in the console yet) when plugged in the console too it shows a green light again but here the Xbox doesn't turn on. It's fan only powers on and runs really loud (burning smell

    are you sure or is it a CPU issue what of the burning smell from the console when power supply is connected?
