Sleeping Dogs "looks" available to play?

Hi folks! I'm not at home right now, so I can't check to see if it's still like this, but yesterday I noticed something odd. After I pre-purchased Sleeping Dogs a few weeks ago, the text on the tile indicated that the game had been pre-downloaded and would
be available when the game launched. However, yesterday, it said "Ready to Start." Usually a game doesn't say this until it's released and available for play.

I'm VERY hesitant to try launching the game, because Xbox Live has strict penalties for playing a game ahead of its release date (including account suspension and console banning.)

I tweeted Xbox Support, Sleeping Dogs, Major Nelson, Phil, and Aaron, but the only response I've gotten is from @sleepingdogs saying "That's odd" and asking what happens if I try to launch (I explained why I didn't want to do that without confirmation from
Xbox that I was safe to do it.) It's odd, because Xbox Support usually responds within the hour if I ask them something, so I wonder if this is a BIG "what the heck" moment for them, or if they're keeping something hushed, like an "early" release date....

Anybody see this? I know of one guy playing it early for Review purposes, but usually that's acknowledged and given permission ahead of time, so I'm at a loss.

If you haven't gotten a specific answer from Microsoft about this then I would just leave it alone until the actual date of release. Better to play it safe than be sorry.

 

Yeah, this is definitely the way I'm going until I hear something from them! Curious if it's just me, or if anyone else has noticed it.

Yes, I'm definitely aware of the announced release date, thanks Ian. My question was, I wonder if this was an error, or if the game has been made available "early," as some developers do - Swery released D4 a day early on digital, FIFA 15 came out ahead
of schedule, and even Watch Dogs was playable as much as a week in advance because game companies were giving the discs out to pre-orderers as soon as they came in (which was confirmed by looking at player profiles showing earned achievements for a game which
hadn't released.)

I'm curious if we'll be seeing a Major Nelson post saying "Guess what, available now." Just not planning to hit A until we get some announcement.

 

As of the moment there is no information posted yet.

you can download it to your console but it will be playable during the release date, but just to make sure, just download the game during the release date.
