    SKYRIM: How do I fix the purple texture bug/glitch on Xbox 360?


    A couple months ago, a bunch of items (weapons and apparel) turned a bright purplish color. When ever i try to interact with them, my game freezes and will not unfreeze, no matter how long I wait. Additionally, very often during
    a fight, the game freezes for about 1 minute and sometimes won't unfreeze at all. This is very frustrating because I don't manually save very often and I need to restart my console. And, when I tried to start a new game on another account, once reaching Helgen,
    the Stormcloak stops talking and once we get to the execution site, the carriage stops, and nothing happens. It doesn't freeze, I just can't do anything. The Stormcloak guy just stares at me and nobody moves, but he's still blinking, the horses are still shuffling
    around, and the music is still playing. Even worse, just recently, when I want to start Skyrim, a few seconds into the loading page, it tells me that the disc is unreadable and I need to clean the disc and restart the console. I have done this many times,
    and there is no sign of improvement.

    Thanks c0ncept, but no luck. And yes, I have tried other games (was even able to completely install Alan Wake on the suspicious HD). Gonna try another Skyrim disc later since that's all that I seem to have left to do. Doesn't make sense, though, NOTHING
    has happened to that disc from when it did work to when it stopped. Plus the glitches I'm experiencing (purple textures) are things other people have experienced. So confused.

    Bethesda advises not to install game for now

    1. I had problems with textures (installed on my HHD) .... Slim Xbox 250 GB.

    2. Uninstalled, cleared cache and played from the disc... Stll same problem with the textures.

    3. Installed on USB and... Problem gone!

    Skyrim is a beautiful game and I do wish they patch and fix this ASAP!

    Game installs do not work when moved between storage devices and/or consoles. While it's possible to move them using the original transfer disc that came with the original HDDs, the install won't work.



    Also, there was a known issue with Skyrim and HDD installs whereby the texture streaming "broke" and the game reverted to low res textures. I don't know if it was fixed. You can try deleting the install of Skyrim and play from DVD. That's apparently a workaround.

    ^Not when there is currently a rumoured bug that breaks the textures of skyrim if you install the game.
