Skype wont open, "Xbox On" doesn't work anymore, Console boots up way slower

So 3 days ago everything seemed fine with my xbox except for The ESO was crashing like 75% time i was playing it, i attributed this to the free weekend play. However, I logged on to skype and it opened for 2 seconds then crashed and would not work again.
I did like 4 power cycles with holding the xbox button, unplugging, nothing worked. I even tried to uninstall it and here is where the real problem came in. I was unable to uninstall, copy or move it. I started seeing if other apps had this problem and sure
enough some did. I had all my info stored on my Xbox External hard drive so I started to think it was going out...even if it only is 4 months old. So i formatted it losing all my games and apps and I am in the process of downloading them to the internal hard
drive...except i downloaded Skype first and wouldn't you know it...IT CRASHED AGAIN. Not only that, I cant uninstall or move it. Has anyone encountered these types of error recently? I am in the preview program but I signed up for the delayed updates because
there were to many bugs in the earlier builds. Now I also noticed today that my Xbox will not respond to "Xbox On" anymore and when I turn it on, rather than it booting up instantly and turning on my tv, sound bar, cable box, it boots up slowly and after 15-20
seconds turns on everything else. This is not how it use to run. It is set to Instant On Mode but I am thinking the system thinks it isn't. Could really use some help.

Keep in mind I have power cycled by the pulling the plug out and leaving it unplugged for 2 hours (didn't help) I have held my hand on the xbox button to clear the cache like 10 times ( didn't help) I even wipe my external hard drive and reinstalled everything
on my Xbox ( didn't help).

it just doesn't open......I just want to talk to somebody so I can send it back .......I try everything....it just doesn't open anymore. Is Microsoft have issue with the custode service?

please make sure that when doing a power cycle to wait until the power supply light turns and remains orange for at least 30 seconds before unplugging or restarting.

Just to be sure, please try these steps one more time:

Please press and hold the power button on the console for at least 10 seconds until you hear the console powering down. Let me know what happens with the light on the power supply (So not the light on the console).

When it turns and remains orange wait for at least 30 seconds before powering the console on again.

If that does not help, and since you already wiped the external hard drive I would advise to try a factory reset of the console itself, to see if that will help.

Hi WPAK thanks for the response. I just did what you said and when I held the power button to turn off my Xbox the orange light on the power supply came on for about 2 seconds, then went back white for about 10-15 and then went orange again finally. I waited
another 40-45 seconds and unplugged it from my Xbox and from the surge protector. After I plugged everything back in I tried the "Xbox On" and that still didn't work, however it did boot up much faster and skype now works. So I guess I will take what I can
lol.

Reason I don't want to factory reset is because my friend and I do homesharing and I already had to factory reset it once because I was in the early preview program and it messed up my console to where a lot of apps and games weren't working so when I reset
it we had to homeshare again and as I am sure you know you can only do it 3 times in one year. So there is only 1 time left lol and I didn't want to use up in case my xbox dies on me or something.

Good to hear performance is better now. Regarding the Xbox On feature, that is only available for some countries/languages see this link if it is available for your region/language settings:

If it is available and the Kinect sensor works for other voice commands then it should respond to the Xbox On command when the console is set to Instant On.

Also be aware that the use of a surge protector can cause some performance issues, it's recommended not to use one, since there already is a surge protector in the Xbox One power supply.

Side note: please be aware that the Home console feature is meant for within the Household, which is why there is a limit of 3.

 

Well xbox on has always worked before a couple days ago, so I know the region thing isn't the issue. I've also had it plugged into a surge protector since day 1 so I doubt that's the issuse. As for it being only available in your same household I've spoken
to Microsoft support and they said there was no issue.

 

Ok. Strange it would suddenly stop working... Wouldn't surprise me if it will stay working again.

You could try recalibrating Kinect, although all other commands work fine, so shouldn't be needed, but I don't think it could hurt
