Skype on Xbox 1

I checked my email and I just got an email tonight Friday 12 Dec 2014 10:13 pm saying my Skype subscription will expire soon. I use my Microsoft account, and understand if you want to video chat on Xbox 1, you can only do it through Skype, unlike with Xbox
360 video chat stays with the Xbox division. I received a similar email earlier this year but got another one not long after saying my subscription was renewed. Should I just ignore the email? I thought as long as you have an Xbox Live Gold subscription, you
can use Skype for video chat on your Xbox 1 console without paying a subscription, on your Xbox 1 console. I've had Xbox Live Gold since 2011.

Skype & Xbox 1

Have had the Xbox 1 since Day 1, and tonight I checked my emails for which my Microsoft account is associated with. I got an email from Skype saying my subscription has expired (use my Microsoft Account). You shouldn't have to renew your subscription to
keep using individual and group video calls on Skype on your Xbox 1 console right? I only say this because you need Skype to video chat on Xbox 1. And Skype doesn't let you change what personal info you provide to private it just leaves it on Public with no
way to change it to Private or Contacts Only. Funny how with the Xbox division of Microsoft, they provide tonnes of options in your Privacy Settings yet Skype doesn't. I probably won't need to renew it. Thanks for reading.

 

Voice messages...

Yes there are those of us who are denied the ability for voice messages. Me and my friends which include a full 360 friends list genuinely use voice messaging and txt messaging. On Xbox 1's Skype app you CANT open voice messages because all you get is "this
version of Skype doesn't support that yet" an Xbox 360 friend sent me one, and the only reason why I have Skype is because of Xbox 1. Just Like to video chat on 360 you need Video Kinect, to video chat on Xbox 1 you need the Skype app. It is an Xbox feature
which tonnes of peps use on Xbox 360 so they should make Voice Messaging interchangeable between at least all Xbox 1 consoles which use Xbox Live.

 

Video Chat is always free with Skype. What you get with the X1 version if you are gold is Group Voice chat, which is a premium service on other devices.

According to the timestamp on my forum page you posted this on Fri, Dec 12 2014 6:13 AM. Many hours before you received your email. I'm thinking you're a time traveler.

Is it something to do with the regular Skype categories, maybe? Skype-to-Skype is always free, but Skype-to-Landline or Skype-to-Mobile has various subscription levels to it. I'm not sure what subscription level you get, if any, from Live Gold. Gonna look
it up.
