Skype keeps crashing on Xbox One

So what's the deal with the Skype app on Xbox One?

So I've used the Skype app b4 with no problem, now earlier today the app crashed out of nowhere. Now no amount of rebooting/power cycling the console or deleting/reinstalling the app will help. Also snapping Skype does not work either. While reinstalling
the app the setup process goes by smoothly but once I get signed in, the app crashes back again to the dashboard.

when i try to run skype app on my xbox one it keeps crashing ino full screen and snap mode.

my xbox one is up do date.

You may actually try to re-download back the profile and then to restart the console afterwards. From then you can test Skype. Also does this only happen with Skype and not with other apps?

So I was hoping that the February Xbox One update would fix Skype but it still crashes on sign in no matter what.

I am having this problem as well. Lots of peeps are having Skype issues, as evidenced by the massive thread at Skype. Can't believe this hasn't been fixed yet.

 

Same problem here. Skype never logs, always crashes. =P

 

Been having this same problem now for months too. I'm grasping at straws trying to find out how to fix this.

 

Sam problem here as well. Snapping Skype also does nothing as it just disappears and logs the app out. This really needs a fix soon!

 

Skype kept closing on me over the past two weeks (right after opening and making that weird sound that it does), even though it was working fine before that.

I checked Xbox One Skype support page, but advice there didn't help. (It's old advice as it doesn't match current settings indicators. Still, I made sure video and audio options per latest set ups were allowed for everybody and that MS would receive sampled
audio data -- whatever the heck that's for.)

But nothing worked. So I uninstalled Skype, and then 5 minutes later, reinstalled it from the Apps store. Voila! Sign in was automatic and it's working again. I've turned on Skype notifications per start up options and will let you all know if it fails
again.

 

Just wanted to add this that was posted in the Skype forums, I forget which exact post it was, but this seemed to do it for me, if you also run the Skype desktop site; I forget what, but there's 1st a command you can type that
tells you ever device you're logged into Skype, you just message someone it but it apparently doesn't send them anything. Then, there's also 1 called /remotelogout which you do the same thing, it's supposed to sign you out from everywhere. Might have to
sign yourself out as at 1st found it did nothing for my desktop app, still got the crashing on XBox One, but I would try a hard reboot from there, maybe wait a few minutes if you're still having the crashing like i did, it might subside.

 

Additional note, found the command, type to any contact, /showplaces Again it won't post anything to them, just shows you all devices you're logged into, as the other command will log you out of all those locations/devices. Again,
thinking it may may take a few minutes but try a hard reboot anyway to make sure, wait a few even after you've done that and go from there.
